Been to loo for a wee. Wiped self. Red blood on tissue. Wiped again, bit more blood.
Last period was 4 days late so now due on July 25th. What could it be? Smear about 2-3 months ago was okay. It isn't the first time I have had bleeding mid cycle, though not noticed it this red before.

how old are you? how much blood - just spotting or lots? could you be pregnant? any pain? is it definitely from fanjo and not somewhere else? do you feel yourself ovulating - you are probably mid cycle and some people do spot when the ovulate? when did you last have sex?

could it be cystitus (sp?). when I had that I had no discomfort at first but quite a bit of blood.
you need to go to the dr to check

or could be the start of a urinary tract infection. Or if you are on hormonal contraception that can give you irregular bleeding. If you absolutely can't face the doc, you could call NHS Direct.

You need to get it checked, probably something and nothing but not something you should leave.

I am 36
Small amount
Felt myself flood so went to check but clear
Not pregnant as hubby had snip last year
Definitely from fanjo
Sex yesterday

No pain when weeing so don't think cystitis.

Not on any contraception but other meds, have been for a while.

Could I ring NHS direct? Don't have much faith in them tbh from past experience.

friend of mine was scared to death by loads of blood in wee. Ended up being fast tracked to hosp appt for it and convinced herself it was something really awful.
Turned out to be an infection and it went away.

If it's an infection of some sort, I'm no expert but I think it needs to be treated quite quickly or you can develop problems.

Report

could be thrush, I had it once without symptoms, inside and I was told i was lucky that it was flagged.

Report
rebelmum1 · 11/07/2008 11:31

bite the bullet, any downstairs problems should be looked at. You could always go to a drop in family centre they'll be a nurse there that can look at you.

I went on NHS direct and pressed yes for blood in the water. Slight panic when it said ring them. My urine is dark but no blood in it so I went back and answered the toher questions. Seems like it could be thrush but having never had it, not certain. Does that cause bleeding?

sounds most likely but really why wont you have a urine analysis so you're sure? Just pitch up somewhere with a jar of wee.

I really don't want too. Never get taken seriously when I go and it all seems so random.

Isn't there a nice one among them? Do you have a family planning, well woman type place? Can you brace yourself, slap your wee down in the jar and say 'take a look at that and tell me what it is and don't give any of your flannel'. They are mortals and not your superior and NOT always right. Don't take any shit. Christ you pay their exorbatant wages!

Yes call another surgery where there's a woman you can see.

It's terrible they have made you feel like this, it's not on you must find a doctor you are comfortable with and you trust. I get a huge sense of dread when i go, as we usually don't see eye to eye but I brave it and stand up for myself as much as I can, but it is daunting they have a lot of sway and can be quite rude and arrogant. But at the end of the day they have the tools and it'll be over in 10 mins and wont be as bad as you think.

Not sure it will be a wee infection - I have had several of those and find that I only end up with a lot of red blood when the infection has got a strong hold and always have other symptoms well before I get to that stage - high temp, crampy pains, burning sensation etc. Can you get a wee infection with no pain/temp? only bleeding?
I wonder if it is more hormonal related and you are having mid cycle bleeding? Still worth getting checked out. In your shoes I would not want to go either, especially if no other symptoms BUT, you know you would tell anyone else to go! NHS are rubbish with these sorts of things and will tell you to see your GP after asking 100 irrelevant questions. Save yourself the stress and phone your GP and ask for a nurse appt.

If your GP's no good, go to your local Sexual Health clinic. When I had problems with mid-cycle bleeding, they checked me out and were VERY helpful.

Can I agree with yorkshirepudding here? - I had mid-cycle bleeding, went to see my GP (who is lovely) and it turned out to be a cervical erosion. They treated it with something or other that stung a bit but haven't had any probs since.

I feel a bit teary as I feel scared.

Before leaving for school I went to the loo and my liner was slightly wet with watery blood on it. Slight period like pain below c-section scar. Talked to a neighbour who has had probs and she said it could be stress, it could be because I am run down and it could be the start of the menopause. Am geared up to ring, but wanted to run it past you what she said first.

Just phoned.

Me: Have you any appointments for come and sit and wait?
Receptionist:What is the problem, can you say?
Me- I'd rather not.
Rec- I will have to relay that to the doctor.
Me - ok, meaning go on then.
Rec- if it is an emergency you will have to give us an idea
Me - it isn't an emergency
Rec- no appointments for 2-3 weeks. Speak to triage on Monday and you will have to tell her the problem.
Me - I don't want to see a nurse. They told me to see a doctor next time.

Now what do I do?
