Embarrasing prob

I am 25 and have had to kids by c-section. I think i thought that because i'd had c-sections i wouldn't have any probs down below, but now i think i have a bladder weakness or pelvic floor weakness or whatever it is.

I had my last child 2 years ago, had no probs weeing when coughing or sneezing when pregnant or afterwards.

For the last few days i keep getting the feeling that i am occasionally trickling and the feeling that i constantly need a wee. When i go to the loo i do do one but only a bit, and i can stop mid flow which i thought i wouldn't be able to do if there was a weakness.

I did wonder if maybe i had a water infection, but would that cause that.

It could all be my imagination as sometimes when i think i have i haven't.

Anyway if it is that, what can i do aboiut it ?? I did do a few pelvic floor exercises after i had the kids but not many. Would it help to do them now or is it too late.
Is it true that general exercise helps too ??

Would be very grateful for any advice.

It's never too late to do pelvic floor exercises ... my youngest is 15 and I still find myself doing them.

Might be as well talking to your GP (or nurse if you have one at your health centre). But tightening up your bits sounds like it might work.

If you've only experinced this for a few days then it may well be a UTI. You usually get burning when weeing with these infections but not always and the feeling of constantly needing the loo but nothing much coming out is very common. Drink loads of fluid - cranberry juice is especially good. Also go to gp as you may need antibiotics.

does sound a bit like a uti get it checked out before it starts to make you feel rough

Ok thank you, will do and will also drink lots of water and see if that makes a difference.

just have to add, i had no other symptom...no burning when weeing or anything like that i just had that were you feel you need a wee but nothing comes out every now and again, not all the time. it defo sounds like a water infection though, go see gp in morn.
i had a 3rd degree tear with my dd and i find i can trickle sometimes but not very often, its a case of do loadsa pelvic floor.

  1. sounds like a UTI
  2. Routine:

First of all, become acquainted with your pelvic floor muscles. Do this by imagining that you are trying to stop from passing wind. Try to isolate this area as much as possible and you can do this by not:

    ? tightening your buttocks
    ? holding your breath
    ? pulling in your tummy
    ? squeezing your legs together.

You're now feeling your pelvic floor muscles.

    Slow and steady?
Find your pelvic floor muscles by using the above method, then squeeze and hold for as long as possible, working up to ten seconds. Release for four seconds. Repeat ten times, six times daily.

    Fast and furious?
Locate your pelvic floor muscles as before. Hold and release for one second, in sets of ten. Again, do ten sets of ten, six times daily.

This is from my uni project but gained from The Incontinence Foundation: www.continence-foundation.org.uk/in-depth/baby-bladder-bowels.php#top

I think an infection too - you can get cranberry tablets - if you don't like the juice
(BTW - I've had a prolapse and my Pelvic Floor collapsed so I know a lot about symptoms)

ooooh! nasty! if you don't mind me asking, was there any reason ie. big baby, pushing for too long?

DD was 8lb 4oz so not that big - labour was 13hrs - so not that long....I got lots of stiches (they took about 1hr/1hr 10 mins to do)

Main problem I think was that I have ME which causes muscle problems - so the labour was hard (exhausting) and then of course nothing sprung back.

6 weeks after I had no movement in my pelvic floor at all

I now have a rectocele (sp) but the leak I had has been plugged by initially a macroplastique injection then more latterly TVT

Oops - totally forgot - placenta didn't come out - so they went fishing for it with foreceps (isn't memory funny - you'd think I remembered that)

oh, my goodness! you poor thing! thanks for telling me. most useful. I would never have thought about ME and muscle tone.

Sorry for hijacking. will go now..
