Have you ever given disprol at 6 months old?

Ds was awake for the majority of last night shrieking and screaming - I'm assuming with his teeth. The calpol ran out and I couldn't get any this morning, I could only get disprol soluble tablets. It does say on the packet from 3 months, but I'm a bit wary - not sure why - probably because all I've ever been told is calpol!!
Has anyone else given it?

have you any anbesol Zephyr? Haven't ever given disprol so can't comment on it. Have you any junior Ibuprofen in the house?

dizzylizzy was just telling me about anbesol, hadn't ever heard of it before but definately going to get some. We haven't got anything else in the house, I thought we had more calpol left than we did - wont make that mistake again!!! He's alright just now though but if tonight is anything like last night I'll have to give him the disprol

Disprol is just paracetamol, same as calpol, so you are just giving exactly the same drug. As long as you stick to the stated dose for the age you won?t be causing any problems. Only thing is IMO disprol doesn?t taste nice like calpol so may be more difficult to get them to take it (sometimes needs disguising in juice).

Yes, I've given DS disprol, but it was the banana flavoured liquid. He HATES calpol with a passion - I'd never seen such a young baby able to scream with his mouth closed...!

Disprol tablets will be fine - I'd try dissolving them as per the instructions and using a syringe to give to your DS. Poor little chap - mine's cutting his fifth and sixth teeth at the moment and he's not very happy either.

(Or try medised - helps them sleep - I've used it over Xmas as DS has had a cold. It acts as a decongestent too.)

I put a tablet in with a bit of juice yesterday afternoon and then in the evening and he went through the night no problems - did have a couple of stinky nappies afterwards but he's fine today

glad to hear it Zephyr. The DTs are definitely teething this time. DT2 has cut 2 and DT1 is in the process of cutting hers. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

Have resigned myself to the fact that I won't sleep again for the next 6 months min, which is why I'm always lurking late at night.

Anyway, glad your DS is doing better. Don't forget to get some Anbesol in when the chemist opens and as Hunker says some Medised (my dr prefers Medised for his own kids)
