Ive got cystitis, and Ive had it before, but it never bothered me as much as it is now. Im taking those sachets that dissolve in water to help but I only realised I had it this morning, so have only taken one sachet. Anything I can do to help it quicker? I dont have cranberry juice in, been drinking plenty of water, and may sit in the bath in a minute. Thanks xxx

Try a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a very large glass of water - it helps to neutralise the acidity. Poor you tb, cystitis is absolutely awful isn't it? x

Can't think of anything else tammie - do you have a local shop near you? They should stock bicarb. And maybe you should think about booking an appt at the doc too - there's nothing worse than finding that the sachets etc have not worked and then you can't get an appt for a week! You can always cancel it again if you are feeling fine. I often found that I needed antibiotics in the end.

how weird, i've got this at the moment too. It started yesterday and I got some cranberry tablets from asda. so far they seem to be helping. I get it on and off and have done for ages. Lots of water and cranberry work really well for me but the juice is so diluted your better off with tablets of capsules. It's horrible isn't it? Also dd keeps jumping up and down on my stomach which doesn't help! Hope you get rid of yours soon

Been to chemist, gave me those sachets things again. Tastes disgusting though so trying to drink it as best as possible. Feel bit better, but was in agony when walking to chemist. Spending rest of the day curled up on sofa now!

Also drink lots and lots of water, and avoid any orange juice/citrus and also no tea/coffee or any caffeine (eg coke).

I hate cystitis. Hope it passes soon.

Tammybear just wanted to tell you NOT to take BOTH sachets AND bicarbonate of soda together as most of those sachets contain sodium bicarbonate or something similar so you might end up giving yourself an overdose. Hope you are better soon.

Have you got a hot water bottle, tammybear? Holding one of those against your bladder can help. Also spending time in a nice deep warm bath. Also, if you have any kind of squirty bottle (eg empty washing-up liquid), fill it with lukewarm water and squirt yourself with it as you wee, it cuts down the burning. Hope it stops soon, it is the pits. XXX
