dd 10.5 months has come down with thwe worse cold yet so i decided for the 1st time ever i would co sleep with her as she was so bunged up dp slept in other room, i proped pillows around her and had my arm underneath her too, and i normally am a very light sleeper but god knows what happened last night as i woke to a very very loud bang and dd crying on the floor she has carpet burn on her face and a black bruise on her cheek, she has done a similar thing before so i didnt take her to a&e as i know what to do and what to look out for, but i feel SO SO SO guilty now, i feel like crying. has thins happened to anyone else? 1 things for sure i wont ever co sleep again!!!

Don't worry, don't beat your self up about it, it happens, i sleep with dd every time she is poorly especially when she can't breath (as she holds her breath too) And dd has fallen out of bed a couple of time. What we do now is if dh goes to her room we put her bed guard up so she can't fall or push the bed near the wall.

So sorry you feel bad but your a ggod mum, lots of cuddles and she will be ok

lilsmum... don't feel bad... you're not alone... when dd was abou 8mths we were at a friends place and she fell asleep so we moved her onto the big double bed with pillows all around... nevertheless ... 'crash' 'scream' ... had a bruise but now she's 3 that's long forgotten

Don't feel guilty about it, it happens alot. I had a similar problem yesterday morning my dd climbed out of her cot with nothing to help her and it was on the lowest level! I heard a big bang and I found her on the floor crying!
I think some babies are just natural climbers and wrigglers!

When she moves into a proper bed of her own, she will almost certainly fall out of it at some time or another. Mine have, although it is very infrequent. If they are asleep, they sometimes don't even remember doing it the next day. I am surprised your dd is bruised and has a carpet burn, that has never happened to my children by falling out of bed. Is your bed particularly high?

yes it is a very high bed, and i dont know if she hit the bedside cabinet too, what i though is a bruise has calmed down now and is just a red graze, still feel terrible!!!

thanks for all the replies

My poor dd has fallen out of bed many a time.

She has often ended up in our bed (eveynight now she can get out of hers and into ours herself!)

But when she was younger she did fall out several times. Never injured, often didn't even wake up!!

The worst time for me though was when i'd gone down to make a cup of tea, dp and dd still asleep in bed, i vaguely heard a thud but no crying so thought it must have been cat jumping down from somewhere. Eventually went upstairs, and panicked cos dd was not in bed but dp was. There she was fast asleep on the floor!!

Don't worry lilsmum. The DTs co sleep with us all the time. DT2 likes to wriggle off and he's been found on the floor many a time. I have a feeling he likes it that way. You're a good mum. Fret not, as has been said before she will probably fall again. Told you they were triplets separated at birth lol
