Really not feeling like myself and feeling very ill

I am 26 and a mum to an 8 month old. I am really struggling with eating. I feel sick when I eat and feel better if I force it down. I then feel better for about half an hour and then feel sick again. I'm exhausted. I know I'm a mum to a little one but this is beyond exhaustion. I could nap all day and still sleep all night. I can actually feel my eyes shutting when I'm changing her nappy. I'm constantly thirsty. And all I want is sugar. Orange juice or full sugar cola.
I took a pregnancy test on the off chance and both came back negative. I had a period 10 days ago so I'm thinking that's very unlikely.
I rang the doctors who told me no appointments because of covid and if I'm worried to call 111.
I dont think it's an out of hours gp thing. It doesn't feel like a hospital thing. It's been going on for 5 days. And I'm starting to worry

I would be insisting on being seen, sounds like it could be diabetes? Constantly thirsty and tired? Even a local pharmacy may be able to do a quick urine dip test?

Agree with random. You need your blood sugars checked.

I would suggest getting your thyroid checked. This can be a really common issue post partum and can make you feel like absolute shite if it’s out of whack. A simple blood test might be very revealing (and it can be easily fixed)

You could go downhill fast so please ring 111

Sounds just like my (diabetic) DH when his sugars are high. You can get your blood sugars tested at some pharmacies, or they will sell test sticks for checking glucose (you dip them in your urine). Please seek help soon or you could become very unwell.

@Randommess I'm ringing them now. Literally after pressing post on this I went very light headed and nearly dropped my daughter.

Also i have no idea why this posted twice.

Diabetes is what springs to mind. Call 111 and get an out of hours appointment.

Ring 111. It’s ridiculous that because of covid it seems a lot of other illnesses are going undiagnosed. Ring them and tell them you’re worried and your gp can’t see you. They sometimes have access to make gp appointments for you if they think it’s necessary. I do think it sounds like potentially diabetes. Hope you’re ok.

I instantly thought of diabetes too. There are 4Ts with diabetes:
Tired
Thirsty
Thin
Toilet

The only one you haven't mentioned is Thin (weight loss) but at 8 months post partum it would be difficult for you to judge accurately whether you are losing weight because you're ill, or because you're adjusting back to your normal body.

To be honest, this is a situation where I would not wait for 111 and go to A&E. You could be very ill indeed.

@Lougle I've lost weight but I am still going back to my postpartum weight. I am constantly needing a wee as well but I broke my pelvis when I was 17 and I've had issues with my bladder ever since. Having a baby just made it worse. 111 advised me to go straight to a and e

How can they have no appointments due to covid?? Glad you've called OP. I was thinking diabetes or some kind of hormone imbalance - you need to get checked out. Is there someone able to be with you and the baby? Is your partner there?

I hope you are on your way!

@Quarantinequeen my husband is going to stay at home with baby. Literally since posting this I'm feeling a lot worse. I keep going warm and I've had to ask my husband to stop the car twice to be sick

I hope you're seen very soon. You could have diabetes, or it could be a bad UTI. Either way, you need to be seen and assessed, so I'm glad you've decided to go.
