Sciatica?

So, I’ve been suffering from coccyx pain for about 2 months. I’ve been to GP who referred me for physio, but I could be waiting a while for that.
It’s become manageable in that it’s only terribly painful if I sit a certain way, so I avoid doing that.

Fast forward to now, started getting right buttock pain at the weekend, centre of right button and it seems to radiate down my thigh, front and side. So achy and horrible, like a toothache. Seems to be worse when standing and walking, still sore when sitting but not as bloody awful.
I’m assuming this is sciatic pain, wondering if anyone has any tips, advice as to what to do. Going to phone GP, but assuming it will just be the usual painkillers (which I don’t take as they kill my stomach) and wait for physio.
Oh the joys of your forties, feel like I’m slowly falling apart!

Might be a tight piriformis.

Try this... you can do it all day and nobody even knows you're stretching.

Brilliant, thanks. I’ll give it a go!

Your pain is behaving as sciatica does (ie radiating outwards and down the leg). Unfortunately pain killers don't really work for this, see if your GP will prescribe gabapentin or pregablin.

Hopefully the physio will be successful, and if not you should be referred for an MRI to find out if there's a bulge pressing on your sciatic nerve.

A TENS machine might bring some relief in the meantime.

Absolutely look to stretch your glutes as well as the exercise above.

I get so tight it presents like sciatica all the way to my foot, can't sit, can't stand, can't lay down, drugs barely touch it BUT it's just super tight muscles/ligaments.

Here are some more to try - YouTube is brilliant

are you crunched up whilst sleeping OP? I still have my 8yo in my bed at night and he tends to starfish. And when I am crammed in hanging off the edge of my bed it seems to be much worse. Just a thought.
