Husband's nuts(15 Posts)
He's got what he thinks is an infection in his nuts. He had something similar a few years ago and after a few days huffing and puffing took himself off the the doctors, had a scan and some antibiotics and it was put down to an infection. He's got the same symptoms now. He's going to talk to the Dr in the morning. But here's the thing. We have an out of hours dr service here, second to none (Scandinavia). He could call up now and speak to a Dr. He could get advice. If they thought there was a need, they would have him come in to the out of hours dr service at the local hospital 10 minutes drive away. We are not stretched medically here and resources are rich. He's refusing to even ring them to discuss it. Meanwhile, he's got himself a polly bag and has gone out and filled it with snow to put on his nuts to cool them down. So now I have a night of him tossing and turning ahead of us. I know this isn't AIBU but seriously, am I to think he could just ring the feckin' ooh number and speak with them?
Yes this is really pointless. A bag of snow indeed.
I mean, your poor DH, but why suffer. Why make you suffer more importantly.
Precisely. There's a bag of feckin' SNOW in the bed now. Thank god we have a mattress protector. It's infuriating.
It's very wrong on many levels but I can't help but picture the scene. DH wearing the dressing gown of doom, nut deep in a bag of snow...
Hope he is ok. The pain must be snow joke.
Have you got a spycam or something @SummerHouse?
I've just made myself up a bed on the sofa. I'm within shouting distance, but clear of the snow and the general fuckwittery.
He's what my grandmother would have called a fool to himself.
They are his nuts. Nobody else will be affected, but he's refusing to do anything about it. He's a classic martyr. "Don't worry about me, I'll just get some snow..."
FFS Shake him and hand him the phone.
There's no talking to him HollowTalk. Apparently they are his nuts and it's not that bad and so he gets to decide. Well it's my flippin' interrupted night's sleep so I get to decide to sleep on the sofa (which is very comfortable, thank goodness!).
I'll let you know if he survives the night. If he does survive but is noisy, I might have to put him out of his misery myself.
Just imagining him coming out of the drs with a repeat prescription for snow, one bag, five times a day. Bless him. It is actually quite sweet. Can you see the sweet side OP? Incidentally has he actually taken pain killers?
Tell him if its that painful it could be testicular torsion and he could be at risk of losing one, or both, due to constricted blood supply if he delays seeking medical advice. He should really see a doctor tonight if possible.
My DP had what the doctors thought was an infection.... Turned out it was cancer.
Luckily caught early as I kept hassling him to go to the doctors. He didn't have heat though but a lot of swelling.
I'd be cheesed off with the huffing puffing & tossing & he wouldn't be getting sympathy from me if he refuses to get it looked at!
Nighthawker with his great medical knowledge (and we must remember they are HIS nuts, so he knows best, obs) he told me earlier, when I brought up this possibility, that no, it is not a torsion, just an infection like last time. I've washed my hands of it. Obviously I'm here if he changes his mind, but I'm not getting into an argument with him. He's already sulking that I'm not sharing a bed with him and his bag of snow.
I'm sorry to hear that CaptainCarp . He will go to the doctors tomorrow. And he probably will be alright. But it's just that he has the availability of a doctor to talk to now, tonight whilst he is in pain, who can assess whether he needs to be seen tonight.
SummerHouse yes, he's had some paracetamol, so that should see him through til the early hours.
How did he get on, @testingmitb? I hope everything went well.
Ah thanks for asking HollowTalk. He's fine. He apparently woke up at 2.30am, 3.30am and 4am but initially told me breezily in the morning that he'd slept fine because he knew I would chew his ear off. He got an appointment with the doc yesterday lunchtime. Our regular family doctor was on holiday so he had a female doctor, which I think threw him a bit. But she examined him and didn't think there was anything obvious so it has been put down to an infection for which he has been prescribed antibiotics. Instructions are that he go back if they don't work, but he's already noticing an improvement. He said he didn't mention the snow to her.........
Glad to hear antibiotics are working.
DP is fine & makes jokes about his "bouncy ball" replacement obviously having found (literally) 1st hand it's a warning to any men that it may not be harmless.
It's not common but I think often it's not picked up because it generally affects younger men & they tend to not go to the doctor
and just moan instead
