Are you dehydrated? Could it be hormonal?

My friend had several headaches, took a Covid test and it came back positive. Could you go and get a test?

I would get your blood pressure checked to rule that out

Sympathy. I have a similar issue. Only help is triptans too.

I did just invest in a better pillow (fancy simba hybrid thing) which helps a little but it's pain.

I no longer drink, v low caffeine etc, drink 2L plus per day.

Neck yoga helps a little but if it's too bad it makes it much worse

Hope it's not Covid for you.

@thebearschairs Can you post me a link to the pillow please?

Could be due to your neck. I get terrible headaches in relation to my neck?

I have a jaw disorder and grind my teeth at night, always a headache in the morning. Are you particularly stressed?

Do you have a carbon dioxide monitor?

Do you sleep too late/too long?
This can trigger my migraines if I sleep past a certain time.
Doctor told me to wake up at the same time every day, even at the weekend.

Also in relation to what a pp said I had headaches for a week before I tested positive for covid (I tested when I had other symptoms and my sense of smell disappeared)

Could you be grinding your teeth/clenching your jaw?

Here you go

www.argos.co.uk/product/2016542?clickSR=slp:term:simba%20hybrid:1:54:1

The price is a bit eye watering but it's supportive. There are review videos on you tube to give you a better idea of what it's like

@QueenAnnaOfArrandale I'm up at the same time every day. Trying some ibuprofen gel on my neck and shoulders

If you just had a new boiler you still need a CO detector. Someone I know got carbon monoxide poisoning from a new boiler because the idiot builder used porous pipes.

I get headaches in the morning if my eyes are being strained the night before. My varifocals are horrible for my eyes, and if I wear them for too long whilst reading on my phone, I'll wake up with a headache.
Have you had an eye test recently?

Report
Nearlytherenext · 26/12/2020 22:19

This is how my covid symptoms started.
Massive massive headaches, verging on migranes, every night.

Took a test and was positive (no other symptoms)

I'm on my 5th night now, fingers crossed this isn't another one.

Is it worth talking to a GP? It is hopefully unlikely to be something serious but I knew a child who started to wake with severe headaches and in his case it needed attention so if it persists it might just be worth mentioning it if it’s out of character for you

Put a carbon monoxide monitor in your bedroom, they are so cheap and could save your life.

We have one as we have a chimney breast in our bedroom, so could get co leaking from it.

I’ve had the same for weeks in the same place, went to a chiropractor and had my neck sorted and a massage, headaches vanished overnight, tension headaches often cause pain at base of the skull and across the head

Also a hot wheat bag across the back of my neck helps if I feel some pain coming on and is goes again

AliceMcK · 26/12/2020 22:41

Do you snore, feel tired during the day? If you have someone who sleeps with you can you ask them if your breathing sounds normal at night? Waking up with a headache is a common sleep apnea symptom.

Also try the wheat pack and a neck rub as it could be tension.

My DH says I twist in funny positions, and he has to move me, when I do this my neck and head really hurt.

How long has it been happening for?
Do they clear or are you left with a low constant headache all day?

Could it be sinus related. I get the same when my sinuses fill overnight while lying flat

High blood pressure and/or teeth grinding. I had similar headaches on waking, probably related to high blood pressure as when I started meds for it and my bp became normal, the headaches went.

Worth speaking to your GP.
