Sweet/ Sour taste disorder

I have a very unusual problem. Lately if I eat anything sweet then I am left with a very sour taste in my mouth. I can taste the sweetness of the food but it changes to sour as soon as I am done eating and sometimes while eating. It is not even mild sour , it's like I have eaten lemons. No matter what I eat or drink - tea, honey, fruit, cake I am left with this sour taste.
Don't have a problem if I eat anything salty, sour or bitter.
I am not on any medication but do take b12 and magnesium supplements but I have been taking them for ages. Don't have any dental problems as well.
Does anyone has any similar experiences or suggestions?

Well... is there any chance you've been exposed to Covid?

Well seeing as it's one of the three testing criteria for CV did it cross your mind to get a test?

I wasn't well from 19th October to 2nd November. I suspected Covid but did not test as I had fever but it was low grade. I caught it from my DH who caught it from DD. Had a test for DD as she had high fever and cough but she was tested negative. Since we were home since DD got sick and our symptoms were mild (did not warrant a test) , both DH and myself never got tested but still isolated.
The reason I suspect covid is when I called school after DD negative test they asked me to keep her home for 10 days and were quite insistent that a lot of test are false negative and my DD could still be positive.
Anyhow, I have been better since Nov 2nd with occasional tiredness but my taste disorder started on 5th which is a long time since I first got symptoms. Everywhere on forums people are saying that the taste/smell thing started on 5th day. So I am wondering if this is something else.

Sounds like Covid, the onset of symptoms don’t follow a rigid timetable and it varies from person to person how long they last. Check your sense of smell, it’s much less obvious that it’s gone. You don’t smell weird smells you just don’t smell anything.

I would test.

Maybe the first bit wasn’t COVID but it is now. Or maybe it took a while.

I wasn't well in March/April, total loss of taste and smell for 6 weeks, ditto DH.
Roll on to August and I started to get like a scented/bitter taste. It's a lot better now, but raw onions still taste awful.
Most other things now taste and smell normal. I saw an ENT 2 weeks ago and he said they've seen alot of people all with similar symptoms and that the nerves can take up to 2 years to heal from the damage caused by Covid.

Is there any chance you are pregnant? My taste goes like this when I'm pregnant. End up eating lots of sweets to keep taking the taste away or salty crisps.

Thank you all for replying. Finally got a telephone appointment with my GP who doubts that it could be Covid as my sense of smell is still intact but says anything is possible these days. Anyway he said my symptoms are more akin to xerostomia or dry mouth caused by hormonal imbalance. I am in perimenopause and not on HRT. He says it is common??? during perimenopause due to low estrogen.
So @DaffodilsAndDandelions pointed out even though I am not pregnant it's somehow linked to my hormones.
He has asked me to chew xylitol gums and mouth rinse and to drink some more water.
