Hi guys I'm due to have colonoscopy tomorrow at 2 pm I stopped eating foods 1 pm today but I read online you can have clear liquids and also boiled sweets or white coloured jelly sweets so I had around 5 pm three sweets two pear drops and one white jelly baby
And now I think I misread this and you can only have that before 1 pm
Have i ruined it ?!? Not sure what to do !

Also would you recommend I'm on to go on public transport to the procedure? I have to take the second batch of stuff at 6 am and I'm due at hospital at 1.50

@user1494360838

I had the same recently. I needed sedition and wasn’t allowed out until someone came to pick me up. On my letter it said if have sedation have to be collected and be watched for 24hrs.

I felt too weak for public transport to get there.

Hope it goes ok x

I don't know your doctor's rules but I have had a few colonoscopies and that little bit of food doesn't seem enough to ruin anything. Watch that you are basically just eliminating clear or yellowish liquid and you will be fine.

Good luck. The prep truly is the hard part.

Hi
I've had a few of these, followed the rules to the letter and more so no sweets. Many years ago I was unwell and took this, I went very low on sugar and no joking i could not move my body in bed. Family rang hospital they said take a bit of lucozade and that got me going, but check.
ATB

I wouldn’t worry, the Moviprep will do it’s job and it shouldn’t affect it at all. I’d stick with clear liquids from now on. Or you can, I’d be more inclined to book a taxi for tomorrow morning.

If you can

Thanks so much everyone
Just started it ... I'm suddenly worried what if it doesn't work! But hopefully it will. After the kids have nodded off

A straw might help as you bypass your tongue/tastebuds a bit. Having it really cold helps me. I was allowed to use lemon juice or clear flavor drops but nothing red. I would avoid orange for that reason.

But some barrier cream around your bottom before the rapid clearing starts. It saves the irritation from all the liquid and wiping.

Yes. Don't worry. It will work.

Normal enough from what I remember. I also ate white food later than I should and it was fine. I put the moviprep into 7up.

Don’t worry it will work, my DP downed it and my god did it work 😳

If you walk around the room by the toilet that can help things get moving. TMI alert- when you need to go it will be an incredibly intense urge that can’t be delayed. It will also be explosive diarrhoea.

The sweets you had wouldnt hurt. Normally when ppl have Movicol they have a clear fluid diet before they fast.

Moviprep can vary as to when it starts. When it starts though it should carry on til you are cleared out. Personally i wouldnt use public transport. You mighg want to fashion some kind of pad just in case you have an accident.

Yes it will work soon! Vaseline for your bottom makes it bearable. I wouldn't go on public transport. The prep is definitely the worst part.

If you have to go by public transport you should be cleared out by then anyway but possibly feeling a bit weak. Is it a long or complicated journey?
I expect you are ensconced in the bathroom now! Hope it goes well.

You can have lucozade or something else sugary like normal lemonade. Good luck

remember if you are having sedation, someone will have to come to accompany you home, and keep an eye on you there.

Thanks all ... yep it worked ! But not sure it's completely cleared it all out
Just starting round two
It's really confusing on the diet part
Because it just said that lunch at 1 pm yesterday had to be white bread pasta yogurt etc
But nothing about fluids or trying to wind down what I'm eating before yesterday
I'm a bit worried it won't work now really don't want all this to be for nothing ... barely slept last night not from actually needing to go just feeling bad

Good luck OP.

Over the years, I've had colonoscopies in 6 different hospitals.

I agree, the instructions are poor. The main things to remember is to take the bowel prep and drink a lot of clear fluids.

Personally I wouldn't have Coke.

Report
Cornedbeefpie · 02/11/2020 09:54

No cola, only clear fluids so stick to water today.

I’ve just had one on Thursday and same prep method as you OP, two lots night before and two lots in the morning. My appointment time was 2.30pm. I had a cracking headache on the day which they said is common. I should probably have drank more water as well as the prep liquid.

Good luck!
