Itchy patch on lower leg?

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 03/10/2020 17:36

I’ve had this itchy patch on my lower leg for a few months now, it comes and goes, can go days without it itching and then suddenly it gets intensely itchy and I can’t help but scratch it which leads to the bleeding patches.

It is a little scaly and a little dry, no change in any washing stuff or anything so not sure it’s contact dermatitis. I do suffer with hives as well so not
Sure if it’s linked. If I put cream on it it does sooth it.

Has anyone else had anything like this?

Watching with interest as I've had this off and on for 18months now. First time antibiotics as infected but various creams are just reducing it.. But it comes bavk

Hm very strange then that there are a few of us suffering with this. Do you get the intense itchiness too? It’s not particularly sore at all just it gets so itchy. I wondered about eczema and there are photos online that do kind of look like mine but don’t have the typical cracked skin of eczema

I've had this too for about six months. Puzzling!

Very peculiar. You start worrying if something else is going on but other than the itchy patch there is nout wrong with me 😂

Incredibly itchy.. I take an anti histamine or I scratch it raw in night...
Don't know if age related.. Wrong side of 45...
Ive also tried intensive moisturiser then wrapped legs in clingfilm... Its an attractive look but helps

Interesting- I'm a similar age to you happytoday (46). I wonder if it's related to peri menopause?

If it keeps coming back then I don't think it would harm to use an anti fungal cream. Use it until the patch goes away and then continue to use it for a week or so longer to kill for sure any fungal infection

You may find that gets on top of it

Hi I have had what sounds and looks like a similar thing since about April of this year. It's only on the inside of my left forearm. Never had it before. Manage to clear it up by using cream but it comes back. I'm 58...

I had ezcema when I had hives.

Moisturise the fuck out of it, change what you wash with to soap only if you use shower gel - and if that doesn't work then use one of the moisturisers you can use as soap like Cetraben or Epiderm.

If suds from your shampoo are running down your legs then an SLS free shampoo may help too.

Have something similar, but only on one leg. Seems to get worse when warm

@AnnaMagnani that’s interesting to know as was wondering if it could be connected to the hives. I’ve had hives since I had my DS in 2013, I’ll scratch and them the marks come up then disappear soon after and it’s like nothing happened! I’ve been using oilatum?

@ineedaholidaynow yep just on one leg for
Me too and doesn’t seem to spread or anything, but also find that my hives flare up when going from hot to cold or vice Versa

@Veterinari thank you do that that’s really interesting, I’ve never heard of it either. Think a chat with my Dr is in order then

Hi,

My friend actually has this and she’s had it around a year now. She went to the doctors and they gave her some antibiotic cream. It eased but she didn’t carry on using it so it came back! Maybe worth trying your doctor for some cream and see how it goes? Hope you get sorted xx
