Been invited for flu jab? Any practice nurses?

I've had a letter inviting me for a flu jab but I don't normally receive one.

It states due to weakened immune system or drugs which lower immunity of which I have neither?

The only medication I have is a B12 jab every 3 months.

Can anyone shed any light on this as I've started to worry there's something I don't know about!!

Many thanks

Don't have bmi over 40 or any underlying health conditions either.

It’s an autoimmune condition you’ve got and the immune system isn’t good at fighting more than one battle at a time so my guess is you’ve been offered a flu jab so you don’t get poorly with flu.

Thanks Fluffy

Do you mean due to the B12? do you think they have extended it to include that.

Yes the pernicious anaemia is classed as autoimmune same as rheumatoid arthritis or asthma or temporal arteritis (sp?).

I’d imagine they’ve rolled it out to include more groups of people and forgotten flu jabs are ordered at the beginning of the year before the pandemic hit.

I knowGrin

I just have a bit of the old health anxiety, and it had passed closing time when I opened letter and had some blood tests recently and was worried they knew something I didn't!!

Hadn't a clue it would have just been due to my b12 that is literally all I have to take.

Thanks again Smile

I called the Drs this morning just to check, and she said they had this year been sent from a central database and would check the reason.

Apparently it was an error. I had been flagged up as having glandular fever in 1992 and they said this is reason it was sent. Error on their behalf.

She said she'd had another call this morning, I bet they will be inundated with questions!!
