A couple months ago I was getting bad heartburn and a dull ache when i swallow food or drink. Dr put me on 20mg omeprazole and gaviscon heart burn has resolved. Ache in chest has gone. But now I get the dull ache in my back 🥴. Not every time I eat and drink but I would say still daily. I'm overweight (looking to loose weight) I'm a worse case scenario kind of person. Always think the worse. Anyone else have issues like this?

I've had them or shall I say still have them, I put the discomfort in the back down to trapped wind and you could try some Windeasy or Deflatine. But you could always mention it to your GP for a word of reassurance if nothing else.

@Oldmum55 hey thanks for the response. I will have to contact the GP as I'm getting close to the end of the course of my tablets. Are you taking anything for yours?

Bex1517 - have you had a look at the "feels like something is stuck in my throat" thread? There's a few of us on there with similar. I suspect a lot of it is anxiety related but that doesn't help the symptoms.

Awful isn't it. I get it in my back too.
Much worse when I'm feeling stressed.
I've tried both Omeprazole and Lansoprazole ( neither suited me).
I now just make do with Gaviscon advance which works sometimes.
Zantac used to work but it's been taken off the shelves.
Stress is definitely a big factor for my Gerd flares though.

I was on Omeprazole I got switched to Lansoprazole and it's amazing in comparison. I now only need 1 tablet a day instead of 2 of the Omeprazole. The Omeprazole wasn't working at all and I was in pain by 2pm after taking it in the morning.

I hope you find something that works for you.

@Scottishlassie81 trying to get through to my dr is a nightmare. Do you have an ache when you eat or drink?

Eating seems to ‘push me my acid back down and I get temporary relief. I can’t just eat every time it hurts though that’s why I went to the docs about it. I have a lazy sphincter (spelling) oh errrr. In my throat😊

It’s doing my head in, can’t stand this much longer, having had reflux for well over a year pains everywhere in my stomach, no tests even offered by drs, just omperazole given, 20mg, finally rang another dr yesterday and I had to insist on having tests, so stool sample being sorted Monday, hope this starts the ball rolling, this gerd is ruining my life literally! Mouthfuls of acid coming up in my mouth, eating properly. Raised bed, all the usual tips, never tried gaviscon,

@CambsAlways oh no that's not good! The only thing I get is the dull ache when eating or drinking.
