Just want a moan :( viral infection

Hello all,

I just want a general whinge.

I left work early yesterday as very quickly I started feeling lightheaded in a meeting. A colleague said I went very pale and I wasn't focussing my eyes anywhere. My DH picked me up and I spent the rest of the day in bed.

Since then, I had waves of lightheaded ness regardless if I'm upright or lying down. I have pressure in my head briefly when I get up and I've had the odd ear ache.

I got an appointment to see the advanced nurse practitioner today who carried out a thorough check. She took blood from me, checked urine and done a pg test which was negative. She did say at first that there was some glucose in my urine, but quickly changed her mind and apologised that she was reading it wrong and that my urine was fine - which I think is good!

My glands were fine, my left ear was a little bit red but other than that, fine. Blood pressure was a bit low but the ANP said that's probably my new normal, pulse was 82bpm which she said was within the normal range. All other vitals were fine which again, I'm glad.

She put it down to viral and nothing was prescribed (which that's fine for me).

But since my appointment this morning, I still don't feel great. Not getting worse but feel so lightheaded in waves. My thighs feel 'odd' like they feel weak. I have an odd sensation in the curve of my lower back on my spine - feels like a bubbling sensation which then rises up my spine to my head when I have a wave of lightheaded ness.

My boss thinks it's labyrinthitis, but I've read that that is a horrible sensation and I wouldn't say my waves are as extreme as what people describe. I have lost my appetite - I'm picking at meals but when I get hungry, a small soup will fill me.

I feel a slight pressure in my head but no pain usually - probably to do with the ear internal redness doing something with it all.

Work in a great job, but all professionals who are never off work, plus I'm new in the dept by 5 months so don't want to annoy the boss by being off for a while, but she does seem fine when we talk to update on how I'm feeling. I want to go back tomorrow, but after making dinner there (my choice as want to keep busy) I felt awful. Feel ok now that I'm on the couch, but guarantee another wave of this will hit me multiple times tonight.

Just want a whinge and see if anyone else is feeling the same or know what's going on? No other symptoms, not Covid, no fever either.

Oh my days @reginaaphlange. Get better soon and don't worry about going back to work - I think the fact you were ill at work makes them realise you aren't putting it on so I really wouldn't stress. Please don't go back tomorrow and rest as much as you can

Something like labrynthitis could maybe account for this. Would suggest bppv but it doesn’t sound positional. I would definitely say don’t go back to work tomorrow !

Boss says I've to stay off tomorrow too. Defo will go back in on Thursday - so much to do..!

Ear ache is blooming making its presence known!!!

Ive had labyrinthitis and your symptoms sound so similar. You might need to go back to the doctors. I was prescribed antipsychotics to help with the dizzy spells.

@ToDoListAddict the ANP was pretty adamant that it was viral and she couldn't see anything else to suggest otherwise.

I went for a walk with DH, felt ok, but now back at home with a cup of tea and feeling the familiar sensation of bubbling on my spine and waves slowly washing over me :(

The ANP is a good one, assertive which is good but feel scared to question her lol. Will see what she says when she calls with my blood results tomorrow.

She wasn't overly concerned about my dizziness though...

Go and see a doctor for a second opinion.

Also, hope you feel better soon!

Doesn't sound like my experience of labyrinthitis - I couldn't move my head. I vomited every time I did. No symptoms anywhere else but dizziness and vomiting.

Sounds nasty though. I hope you feel better soon!

@sakura06 thank you. I'll see what the blood results come back with. Hopefully all clear but see what she says.

I think she accidentally poked my ear with the instrument to check them earlier as it REALLY hurt - enough for me to swear! But she said it was a bit red inside. It's really sore now and when I was a bit naughty in poking my pinky in a bit, it hurt! 🥺🥺

@tenlittlecygnets that's why I don't think I have that. Yes I felt nauseous as hell on Monday but I've not felt it since. My only concerns now are the ear pain and dizziness

Labyrinthitis is a viral infection so she's not necessarily wrong, just there are medications to help you if it is labyrinthitis.
Otherwise you could be feeling like this for the next 2-3 weeks.
I would empathise the dizziness and heavy headed feeling. And get your ears checked again for an infection because they always seem to be linked in my case.

Any chance your light headed feeling could be due to low blood sugar?

If your appetite is not great try to eat little but ofte. Also make sure you're drinking enough.

So my bloods are all 'acceptable' which is great, however the lightheadedness is back and at the same level as Monday.

What can I do? I hate feeling like this :(

Can you pop your ears - this is the single best way to shorty my fluid in there which could be causing your issues

Report
trashcanjunkie · 20/09/2020 00:05

Shift any fluid! Not shorty my fluid Grin

And do it as often as possible - twice a day if you can
