For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Do you know in all my time here, I've never actually read the OP for this thread.

Now that I'm dangerously close to it I might just do that.

OMG. We're meant to be boosting our energy, health and general well-being?

AND doing ten minutes of exercise a day.

Why did nobody tell me this?

I don't know really. I mean I knew we were meant to talk about greengages and eat ten a day, but I didn't realize there was a purpose nor that we were meant to exercise for TEN minutes.

have people talked about exercising much?

I am feeling beautifully fruity after going to the doctor with dd3- the kindergarten teachers are talking pants!!!!! She is just dreamy. Her hearing is excellent, she is developing perfectly, physically, (one of the teachers' gripes), she could answer everything, she could do all the little tests. And what's more, the kindergarten teachers' fame had preceded them- the doctor Knew All About them, from other parents. She will work with the school psychologist to make sure we do the right thing by dd3, which is certainly NOT repeating the year with a SN specialist.

Lionheart, it is more usual for a child to go to a special classwhere they do the first school year in 2 years instead of one. I've actually never heard of a child repeating kindergarten.

Anyway, thank ye all for "listening"!
I have had ratatouille today and hope to have more veg for tea, but after all that hassle I don't really feel like eating yet.

Playing the balalaika would surely constitue a good arm workout...?

I generally gloss over the whole exercise thingy as i reckon my lifestyle is manic enough to constitute regular excercise. I did go to Chi Quong last night. That's excercise in slow motion.

oh SK, I posted that while you were typing! Huzzah, great news

When I mention going to the gym, 100, did you think I was just showing off?

Tbh we were struggling somewhat on the exercise front for some time

however I HAD noticed that virtually all the newer recruits are exercise shy coffee drinkers

do you still want to be in our gang or are you too appalled?

Oh SK that's fantastic news! Yay dd3, you must be relieved for her.

100, i am happy to do forwarding, but i don't have filthys email, so i would have no where to forward it to. And i don't have cat either.

I just had some nice news! Remember that project with quentin blake and i showed some of you the pictures? They've selected my two for an exhibition and catalogue which will be 2 of 26, the others including 3 of quentin blakes and other actual famous illustrators, and they want to also make mine into prints and display them in hospitals. the exhibition will be for agents and publishers and will have speakers including gorky paul and jeannette willis. The email was sitting in my junk mail, i'm glad i checked it.

Ta, FMV!
I was just thinking wife-swapping could prove to be good exercise too...depending on who or what one gets offered. Might run a mile from it!

Oh balls, I was just cooking dinner and I came up with a title and rushed here to tell you and I am too late

This one is lovely though

100 I talk about going to the gym all the time. In fact I talk more about that that f&v these days. And FMV is always going on about, ahem, "exercise"

What is the title Tatties? We can have it next time maybe?

FMF you know I love your titles (here is another one of yours) but I really don't like the cabbages, leeks and peas one. Sorry. I thought I would say it rather than have you keep offering it and me ignoring it.

And Boco well done!

That is very excellent, SK.

The FIREWALKING would count as excercise, would it not?

Don't think you'd be allowed to do it with children but I bet if they were given the chance they would go for it.

I actually had thought a bit about a title...lol...but it's probably really rubbish anyway, or had been used already, or something similar to it, lol
