Unintentional weight loss(3 Posts)
I'm recently going through a bit of a health scare and have been weighing myself quite a lot, since January I have gone from 55.4kg to 51.9kg, one pound of that just in the past week/couple of days. I'm just wondering if anyone has lost this mich weight due to worrying over their health or if it's a symptoms of my health scare
by health scare do you mean you are in contact with your GP/a specialist medical consultant and are undergoing tests for something specific and serious? or that you are having a hypochondriac episode and working yourself up into a panic?
if it's the former then yes certainly an unexplained weightloss that isn't due to dieting could be significant and you should report it.
worrying does not directly cause weight loss but if you are worrying so much that you aren't eating right then it's the not eating that is the problem. there are loads of websites easy to find on google which will calculate how much you should be eating for weight maintenance given your current weight and activity level. use one of them to see what you should be eating and calculate the nutritional content of your normal daily eating.
whether or not you actually have something serious going on, making sure you eat healthily and get some fresh air and exercise will help.
It's sort of a mix of both, I have an enlarged lymph node in my neck and had bloods done on monday and still waiting for the results, however, the lymph node has gotten bigger. Mym mum passed of lymphoma when I was a child and I have an eleven month old and the thought of her growing up not remembering or knowing who I am has me heartbroken as I cant help but fear the worst
