I have tried all medication and only found relief from diazepam for the muscle spasms. It is nowhere near as painful as when it first happened, but I have a few days when the pain seems to be getting easier then it gets worse again, I have tried everything suggested but everything seems to aggravate it, also the pain changes all of the time. The last few days it’s excruciating spasms under foot up to big toe plus my other foot know gets numb and tingly, my right side was unaffected until a few weeks ago. Has anyone experienced anything similar I just can’t understand how it’s heeling if I’m in pain mostly and now have both feet affected. Please anyone I’m desperate

Hi
I also am currently suffering with very painful sciatica since February, but only the left side. If you read the NHS website about sciatic it says you should call 999 or go to A&E if you get sciatica on both sides! www.nhs.uk/conditions/sciatica/
You might get something done then!
I mainly get leg/foot pain, the only back pain I’ve had recently is a sore/tender tail bone area. I bought a support cushion with a cut out tail bone section to help with that. I have constant left leg pain and am awoken every night with my leg pain and have to walk around the house to try to alleviate the pain a little and to wait till I can take my next pain relief. Today I have terrible left foot pain, which is tingling and throbbing. I am currently taking 2700mg of Gabapentin, 8 Zapain tablets and Naproxen (plus PPI) daily.
I am currently waiting for an MRI, which will then hopefully lead to spinal surgery, which I’m hoping will fix my pain, but everything has been delayed because of lockdown.

Hope you get something done.

Labrusca thanks for replying, it’s so exhausting mine is caused by a herniated disc diagnosed after an mri in December. I couldn’t sit at all, and could only sleep for 2 hours a night, so I have improved but not as much as I had hoped. Hope you get your mri soon. My consultant said operation wouldn’t be first option, and success rate isn’t high enough to rush into

Sorry had to cut that short as my 3 year old was having a tantrum, hope it gets better quickly for you, I have heard most recover without intervention, but different consultants take different paths hope you have a good one

I had a herniated and bulging disc identified last year after an MRI, but my sciatica wasn’t too bad then, so though a referral was offered I said no. Then in February my back went again and the sciatica got worse and has been getting progressively worse since then. I presume I’ve herniated another disc. Yes, I heard most get better by themselves, so 4 months on I don’t know why mine hasn’t either. My consultant said the operation success rate is 80%. My next door neighbour and a friend of my father in law have both had it done and it’s been successful. I can’t sit on a soft surface like the sofa, as my leg pain becomes too bad. I have a conservatory chair which in conjunction with my support cushion I can sit on for a time, then have to stand up or walk around for a time. The depressing thing for me has been that it’s been getting worse since Feb rather than better. Did you go to A&E?

Yes I went to A&E when it first went in November. I am the same I can’t sit for long, I feel for you. I was supposed to see my consultant in March but my appointment was cancelled, I think I might have to go down the operation route but I have a 3 year old and going through separation/divorce, so I won’t have any help. But can’t go on like this, I walk around all day, can only sit occasionally, I am really fed up

I can’t begin to understand how you’re dealing with the pain while looking after a 3 year old! I don’t know if you have, but you should definitely keep going back to your GP and get your medication upped if you haven’t already. I have had to call mine a number of times to get to the dose I’m currently on. I find that my Gabapentin, Naproxen and Zapain combination has made my pain liveable to degree and I find them all essential. I hope you get seen soon.

Thank you Labryssa and winebythebottle I will try a heat pad it’s the only thing I haven’t tried. I have the cushion for the spine but sitting just makes my legs numb and the pain worse. I need to call doctors back on Monday to see about another referral to consultant, I have had Gabapentin,Naproxen and others they just haven’t made the pain manageable I have had 4 babies without any pain relief this is unbearable, sorry to hear you are getting worse labryssa, I think I could handle it coming and going but 7 months of little sleep is messing with my head
