Hi just wondering if anyone can give me any thoughts.

I work as a cleaner in a care home and I am always on my feet. I was rushing about as I was a bit behind and all of a sudden I went light headed and felt really dizzy, almost like I was going to faint. Bare in mind that I had nothing eat all that day only a cup of tea on my break. But I’m so used to going without food for a while so I’m not sure if it’s because of that. I got really hot and flushed in the face. I was so close to going home but I only had an hour to go so thought I would Just work through it. Felt slightly better when got home but iv had dizziness before As I seem to get every so now and then and it always lasts A few hours or most the day. It’s just never happened when iv been a work so I felt terrible trying to carry on.

Today still don’t feel 100% but just very very tired and exhausted..

Try eating and drinking regularly - either you could be dehydrated or your blood sugar could be low or both.

I do normally take a drink with me but didn’t that time only had the cuppa on my break. so could of been that. I don’t eat as much as I should I mainly skip breakfast but that’s because I never feel hungry in the morning. Got a phone appointment with the doctor but not until Wednesday so most probs will send me have some blood tests make sure nothing is low x

Take the day before into account too. Dehydration starts 24hrs before. If you did a lot of exercise or didn't eat much the day before it can cause faintness next day.

Still feeling the same not got blood tests until Tuesday. I understand with everything that’s going on at the moment but is there no way of blood test sooner. So tired, light headed and shaky today. Won’t be going into work tomorrow if I feel like this😩

How is your mental health?
I get like this when going through periods of stress and feeling overwhelmed.

I do think you need to have something to eat on a morning or even a drink of fresh juice.

I'm pretty sure your doctor will tell you to eat regularly. Not eating and doing a busy hands on job is going to have an effect. Please care for yourself as well as others.

@spied my mental health is ok thanks, I was diagnosed with anxiety 2 years ago with having physical symptoms palpitations etc.. but im a lot better anxiety wise as iv been off the medication for long while now. Also I don’t really get stressed,I worry more than anything. But not been worrying or stressed recently for it to be linked with that.

I am suffering with acid reflux at the moment, not much heartburn but a lot of belching and having that acid taste back up the throat after anything I eat. don’t feel like eating much because of it. So in that case maybe the not eating much is causing It.

I only work weekends so all week haven’t been doing much just extreme tiredness even though I’m having plenty of sleep. Then the dizziness came back this morning it’s a horrible feeling😔

Could be low blood pressure too, esp if you’re not eating or drinking enough. Or so I was told when I had a similar episode.

@Tulipstulips yeah that’s another possibility but they won’t see me to check it with what’s going on

Can I ask a sensitive question? Are you a woman of a “certain age”? Just wondered if there’s any chance you could be perimenopausal.

Those symptoms have been recorded at the start of a diagnosis of Covid, especially if increased temp follows.

The dizziness & extreme fatigue in particular.

As you're in a care home, I imagine the advice is to get tested & self-isolate.

Of course the suggested issues of stress, low BP & dehydration also do make sense.

Good luck 💐

@EarringsandLipstick I doubt that. We have all recently been tested for covid, my results came back Wednesday negative. Although I know you can easily get it after but no cases ever been in the home and the risk is even lower than what is was so I’d be surprised. Not had no other symptoms other than the dizziness and tiredness. I’m sure you have to have at least a temperature

My mum got something a bit like this and it turned out to be low sodium - if you're not eating much and working, you''ll be sweating (even if you don't feel sweaty as it dries as it happens) and losing sodium. Ghis would show up in blood tests (if they look for it, anyway) in the meantime i believe that if you are short of salt, salty food tastes nicer.

Another possible issue if you are undereating is ketosis. If you live with someone, uou could ask if ghey think you smell' solventy'. Glucose tablets or dry crackers might be a quick fix for that.

However these are all guesses and it sounds like you need a proper medical consultation

Thanks @candycane222 well I’m going for blood tests Tuesday so I hope they will be testing for everything that could be low. I know she mentioned blood sugar and iron so might be a few other things on there as well. Yeah I did get a bit of a sweat on at work when the dizziness first came. I was fine all through the day and then Sunddenly came on after I stopped rushing around. Then it’s kind of lingered on me all week not so much dizziness until this morning. But mainly tiredness now x

Good luck! Do ask for advice about eating and reflux. My dd gets reflux and dr told her not to lie down soon after eating, and not to do all her eating in the evening. If you're able to eat better that would probably help!

I had dizziness/light head with both of my pregnancies very early on. I remember it being the first symptom with dd2. Alongside tiredness. Any possibility you could be pregnant?

@candycane222 I had bad reflux last year and funnily enough I remember having the chills then and light headiness so it points more to low blood sugar because of the acid making me feel bloated etc..

I have took a month worth of Omeprazole which was really for treating it but soon come back. Iv tried gaviscon mints there only good for short time but don’t know what else to do to try and permanently get rid of it at least for another year😂

@DeathMetalMum very unlikely I’m pregnant as iv got the copper coil in and just come off my period . These symptoms started Sunday the day I came on x

Does sound worth trying to get the reflux sorted. I'm not an expert but suspect it might be one of those things where you get better advice from fellow sufferers than gps - or at least, valuable additional advice?

UPDATE- results came back normal which is quite upsetting for me as I now think it’s just my mental health again. Dizziness did settle but the feeling of no energy is still there and I’m feeling very tearful.
Hopefully try speaking to a doctor tomorrow as I may have go back to medication.

I am on AD already (not for depression) but for pain as I suffer with TMJ. But Makes me think if these are playing a part

Hi Mummyof

I was talking to someone else on here the other day who was suffering dizziness and she was on ADs, and she found out it was because she wasn't taking the tablets at exactly the same time each day - when she left it a bit long or missed one, she would get really severely dizzy. Could that be what's happening with you?
