Anyone out there who can distract an emetaphobe for a few mins???

It might only be a few seconds actually - I am so paniced that I might have to log off and get out of here in a moment.

DH and I just ate dinner. A very big dinner. Within 15mins he said he suddenly felt "very weird". He said he was going to the loo, and knowing my fear, he told me to turn the TV up loud and shut the doors. That was 20 mins ago and I have the telly on full vol and am sitting here shaking and rigid with fear. I feel very sick too but think it is panic - but it might not be. I am trapped in the living room and have no access to a bathroom.

DH has never been sick since we met. I want to run out of the house but can't (a) because someone has to care for DD if she wakes up; (b) because something might be really worng with DH; (c) I have nowhere to go; (d) I will not let this stupid phobia make me act like a mad woman yet again.

I know there are lots of emetophobes on these boards. Does anyone have any advice about how to get through the next few mins/hours?

I am jet-lagged, exhausted and paniced.

Bodgit and Scarper are the two man band that appear to have done all installations in this house prior to us buying it.

Sorry my dear, supper is served. Hope someone else comes along in a minute.

Fellow emetophobe here.

What's on t.v. for you now then?

I spent the day with dd, just me and her. She had her swimming lesson this morning and then we did lots of arty / crafty stuff and went to the library and watched Return of the Pink Panther. quite opposite to your busy day!

Well I managed to sort out all the laundry, . All the summer clothes are away, sent DH up in the attic to get winter uniform down, have decided its officially winter in the pubble household! It will be just my luck now for the weather to turn really warm and bite me on the bum for being so organised!

Trying to watch Michael Palin's series about Eastern Europe but it not working. Why is there never anything good on Saturday night? And when are all the good programmes going to start again - summer TV is shite.

Your day sounds lovely - I feel awful about having left DD for so long. Before this week we had never been apart for one night.

Oooh New York New York! So good they named it twice! Did you get any shopping done? Or just busy working hard?

Gosh, how organised pinkbubble. I end up shoving stuff to the back of the wardroobe at the end of each season. Where are you based? It was still quite hot in London today. I had to route about for a light top after mistakingly venturing out in a wooly jumper.

NY was all business but I did manage a trip to Baby Gap as its half price over there. DD has a lovely new range of stuff.

Crikey. I think even having summer and winter clothes is terribly organised! I think winter is just more layers of summer clothes. But then I also always go out in the wrong stuff - I get up and it looks murky so I wear a big jumper and as soon as I leave the house the sun comes out in force!! Rubbish.

Baby Gap sounds good. We went to New York for hols but if I had the chance I would live there like a shot! DH wouldn't. He's more a country boy but I love big cities.

We are on the coast in Kent! I havent been out for a few days due to a dodgy bladder, so I have put it to good use, the rest of the house is a complete and utter pigsty, but hey ho, tomorrow is another day!

Has DH come back yet?

Thanks for all your kind efforts. I have to go. DH back downstairs. The worst has happened, but he seems to think it is now OK to pretend all is normal. He has parked himself next to me on the sofa so I am off to seek refuge upstairs.

Poor DH. A normal wife might offer him a drink, or a hug or something...

Hope you're ok. Well done for dealing with it so well and distracting yourself on here. Don't worry about not giving hug or drink - he's a big boy. He can look after him self!

thanks again for your kindness. i am still here as DH has gone to bed (in the spare room). Am glad as I would not have been able to sleep despite jetlag. I am being as calm as I can. Am determined to use this as an oppurtunity to prove that I can control this thing. I will NOT run away.

Good for you! I have a slight panic this week as DH is away for most of the week so I will be left with 3DDs. He used to go away a lot, but then changed his job at Xmas and has hardly been away since, and I have konda got used to it!

Its hard when you are left alone with LOs who could get ill at any mo. DD is only 1 but has had one tummy bug and I totally let her down at the time. That is why I am determined to beat this.

But my DDs are 13, 10,and 7 so they are not that little, although it still doesnt help. And I have let them down every time, DH even took time off work when I wasnt working. Now when they are ill, they ask for him and not me!

It's a nightmare phobia isn't it? We've just come out of a week of sickness. I got home with dd from school on Wednesday and dp called me to bring him some neurofen as he had a headache and had been sick. Since then I've been feeling so constantly queasy and dd's had a cold and keeps saying she feels sick.

When she started full time school last January she had 3 tummy bugs between then and summer holidays. I started thinking about home ed. rather than go through it any more.

I know there's something going round school now. A mum of one of dd's friends was called to pick up her dd early as she'd been complaining of a tummy ache. The mum told me in detail how her dd had thrown up all over the shopping centre and herself and that it wouldn't stop coming. she had no idea what she was doing to me with that story.

Its a hideous phobia. It dictates everything I decide to do. We are meant to be going on a family holiday on Monday and I am already panicking that if I have not caught this before then, I might catch it while staying with friends. Being ill in somebody else's house is my worst nightmare ever. I am desperate to cancel already.
