Period combined with work stress has resulted in exit block. So fed up. Have been drinking lots, feet on stool etc. It's not high up, it's exit block. Straining brings the poo down but I can't get it out. I obviously can't get a suppository at this time on a Sunday. Any suggestions. I'm so miserable!

Hot water bottle on your lower tummy? Nothing works for me either so I always keep a supply of Dulcolax and suppositories stashed away. Hot water bottle would be my go to though if I’d ran out of medication. And a hot, very strong coffee.

Gulp down a 200ml glass of cold prune juice.
It is awful but it is the best laxative you could have.
It literally clears out your whole system
You can thank me later 😂

I don't drink coffee, just hate it, and no prune juice in but I'm trying orange juice and a warm bath.

Google it, apparently you can do it through your vagina too.

I had this when pregnant and it was horrible. If you have a plastic glove (if not use a clean thin plastic bag like a nappy bag or food bag) pop it on, run briefly under a warm tap and stick your finger up. Keep it pressed down initially and then keep to the side. You may need to help it out but once the blockage is gone the relief will be immense.

I know it sounds awful but it really works.

Strong coffee and cigarette. I sometimes wished I still smoked just to have that empty feeling.

If you put your finger up into your vagina and press against the back of it you should be able to feel it and push it down a bit.
Vaseline up the bum.
Magnesium helps with constipation.

Oh blessed relief. O joy beyond imagining. We have movement.

Fairly wretched night, tried glove etc this morning, no progress, ate half a cucumber last night and awash with orange juice. No prunes in house.
Went to work, pretty uncomfortable cycling and sitting but managed till 3 when I took time back and came home early having bought glycerin suppositories. Another loo visit, no joy so I had a big cup of tea and a nap then best part of three hours gardening. Came in, proceeded to loo and at first I thought it was like every other time, the spirit is willing but the poo won't move but then suddenly success!
Felt like passing out, all shaky with relief, made public announcement to house and insisted dh viewed the evidence.

Thanks for the advice.

I now have suppositories in the cabinet that I didn't need but will perhaps deploy them early if there is a next time.....

Next time, Movicol. You can buy it over the counter, it's the only thing that works for many people. Get some in just in case

I keep sugar free sweets in the house. The sorbitol in them is the same thing that makes prune juice effective.
