Hi just wondering if anyone knows, just before I make yet another trip to minor injuries.

25th may a glass door shattered and wounded my 9yo so off we went to casualty and after a bit of trouble with the shape of the wound they managed to stitch it up. They said return 7 days later for stitch removal.

One week later we returned and doc removed 1 stitch and said nope not ready and to come back weds.

Weds we returned... stitches removed. Looked good and doc was happy.

Anyway since then the skin has separated and it looks as per the pic. The original wound was deep and all the fat tissue was exposed.

So what I’m asking really is will it heal, is this normal? Will new skin grow iver that fatty layer or do I need to go back? No signs of infection, just a little weepy. (I change dressings every one to two days as per advised by hospital)

Thanks!

This happened to one of my children, it needs to be seen as quickly as you can. I'd go first thing tomorrow. In our case it required a small surgery to abrade the edges of the wound and re close it.
