Ugly growths / warts on scalp. Can they be removed with OTC stuff? Pics!!

Hi, I have these wart type growths on my scalp, they’ve been there for years. As I’ve got olde lr my hair is thinner and I’m paranoid that when it’s put up these are visible.
Is it possible to treat these myself or will it have to be a doctor appointment?

If any docs can advise I’d be so grateful

I think the doctor would have to sort those for you possible by freezing or cutting them out.

Do you have similar growths on your body? Or some patches of darker skin in a milky tea colour?
I would show it to a doctor and maybe have a pathology test done.
It was when removing a growth from my scalp that I was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1)

Hi OP did you ever go to the GP about this? I have something similar

I’m the OP, I’ve booked in to have them treated with advanced electrolysis on Thursday. I’ll let you know the outcome

@Islaseat thanks x I went to the GP today and he has suggested I go private because the waiting list is so long to see the NHS dermatologist, I’ll look into electrolysis too

Okay, I’m back from my appointment! All 3 were treated. Apparently just one was a mole, the other two types of skin tags. Advanced electrolysis is a fine needle that’s pushed into the base of the mole / tag and an electric current introduced. I will say, it was pretty painful at times, along the lines of getting a tattoo I suppose. I did wince quite a few times.

They are now a big stingy and sore, like a burning sensation. I have been advised to try and let them dry out and heal. Don’t pick!

Now, the practitioner did think that they may have been able to have been removed in one go but they are still there but should go white, crust over and drop off over the next week or so. I may need another session if I’m not happy with how much has been removed.

So, I’ll update again in a few days to let you know how they are healing and whether they’ve dropped off yet!

@Islaseat ouch it sounds painful! But looking forward to seeing the pics in a week or so as I think I’ll have to go down this route - I also have 3! How much did it cost you? I’ve literally just bought some Bazuka which I highly doubt will make a difference...

It’s normally £70 per treatment type (moles and skin tags are treated in a slightly different way apparently) but I had all 3 on my scalp and one on my nose treated for £100.

I may have to go back for a second treatment if they don’t reduce as much as I’d like so that would be another £70. It’s very rare to need them treated 3 times by all accounts.

Update! The one in the first photograph literally just dropped off, it had reduced to a hard ball of skin. So I wait for the others now!
