Stomach pains every few weeks

I'm a little worried about my auntie who is in her early 60s (Im currently living with her)

She's had a few cases of stomach pains / upset stomach over the last few months, although they've been around 6 weeks apart.

I don't think the pains are particularly severe, although one occasion was enough to wake her up in the night and the pain lasted for an hour or so.

The other times she had pain on and off throughout the day.

I'm obviously thinking the worst and worried that it could be cancer, I've tried getting her to go to the doctors but she won't go as she's convinced it's just related to what she'd eaten those days.

She also had a routine bowel screening test earlier this year which came back negative... this was about a month or two before her first bout of an upset stomach.

Do these symptoms sound like it could be cancer? From what I've gathered, it sounds like the pains you'd get with cancer would be more regular, maybe happenning most days rather than 6 weeks apart.

I also read up on gallstones which sound quite similar to what my auntie has had (e.g. episodes can be weeks apart), I'm hoping it's just something like that.

If she thinks it's food related then the best thing to do would be to keep a food dairy and record of any symptoms for a couple of weeks and see if any patterns emerge from that before you start to fear the worst.

Get her to eat a low fat diet for 2 weeks, then have a fatty meal one day. Record what happens, take findings to doctor
