Toothache!

Last week a small part of my filling fell out leaving a small gap between the rest of the filling and my tooth, it's been ok but today started with a dull ache that hasn't gone away. I know all of the dentists are closed (I had a check up appointment cancelled in April) so what are we supposed to do?

Has anyone tried the temporary tooth filling? I've ordered someone click and collect from Superdrug but what if it doesn't work?

Is there any help out there at the moment for toothache?

I’m in the same position.

Call the dentist, explain your situation so you can first get some official advice, and also do your issues are on the system - my dentist was handing out some filling you can do yourself.

However, when I called to say it didn’t work (too dry), they suggested getting one from a pharmacy etc. I got one, dentek temparin, and filled the hole myself.

My tooth does feel weird, and I get a little discomfort, but the nasty pain is gone (I was mid root canal).

Just to add, they are not all closed, there should be people answering calls for enquiries, and call backs from dentists who can advise you.

Hi, thanks so much for replying. So glad you said the Dentek temporary filling because that's the one I've ordered from Superdrug, I need to pick it up in the morning. Hoping it works, I'm not at the terrible pain part yet it's more like a dull ache.

Toothache terrifies me at the best of times so the thought of having a terrible one when you can't see a dentist is even worse!

I would call your own dentist. They should be open to deal with telephone calls.

I would also give the area where youve lost your filling a really good clean as sometimes food packing can cause an ache, use an interdental brush to clean aeound the area and below the gum.

Its unlikely that losing a small portion of your filling is actually going to lead to proper toothache, but it maybe other things going on. Youe own dentist is best to advise you
