Ankle Injury / so painful

Here’s the thing
I was running and tripped last Thursday and at first I could walk home (limping)
The following day I walked to the shop with my three year old (DD2) who wanted to be carried all the way home, the next day so the Saturday I woke up in terrible pain on the ankle. Now when I say terrible it’s throbbing, tender and just generally tight. Barely able to bear weight and Leg feels heavy like it’s tightening! Had to kids and I liken the pain to a contraction (no jokes! It’s bad)
Anyway been taking the usuals ibruprofen plus ice raising it etc and it’s not getting even marginally better. Waking up and it’s like I’m living the same day again lol.
Obviously in normal circumstances I would get an X-ray but two things to add. There is only a tiny bit of bruising on the INSIDE bone this is were the tenderness is on the bone (after much googling apparently this is an eversion sprain I think)
Secondly I’m shielding our vulnerable DD1 so this needs to be taken in to account.
I’m usually a deep sleeper and it’s woken me up at 5am this morning clearly the ibruprofen has worn off and clearly again things aren’t improving
Just wanting thoughts I guess

a&e
it sounds like you did yourself some damage, it could be broken.

It might be a really bad sprain. You might need an air cast for a week or two.

I think it is a sprain it’s bloody awful I’ve sprained my ankle before a few times on the other side the outer part but it’s never been like this. This is ridiculously painfull

Thanks - how would I get an air cast amazon or is this a hospital / GP job?

facture clinic at hospital would give you something, but sometimes amazon has suitable things. ask if that would be appropriate at a&e.

with my broken arm I asked what sling would be best and ordered that as hospital only provided a cloth.
