Unexplained bruising waiting on bloods

Hello, I am 26 and have a few medical issues. I gave birth to my son 1.5 years ago and was very anaemic I was on iron tablets for 2 months 3 a day. 9 months ago I woke up and had around 15 bruises on the bottom of my legs unexplained and ignored it, I thought maybe I was anaemic again and brought some iron tablets, I didn't think it was an issue! For the past 3 months they have been coming on my thighs aswell as at the bottom of my legs but this also includes chronic headache, night sweats, dizziness and blurred vision. I am having my bloods done tomorrow, but kind of freaking out

Has anyone had this? If so what was the outcome?

Not personally had this but good luck with your blood tests tomorrow. I would imagine if anything serious is wrong, they will contact you quickly.

I had the bruising. Always been a bad bruiser but it was terrible after DS1 was born. Mostly on my legs and thighs, unexplained. I finally went to the doctor about it when DS was about a year old and had my bloods tested for loads of things and nothing came up! All normal.

Are you breastfeeding? I only ask because I often wonder if that somehow contributed to it as the bruising slowly improved after I stopped, though this could be coincidence.

DS2 is now 12 months and the bruising isn't as bad at all.

Bruises are blood that’s getting out of the veins it should be in and escaping under the skin nearby. Could it be some kind of medication you are on, like blood thinners or something, that’s causing it?

I’m sure they will get to the bottom of it pretty soon and sort it out.

I had unexplained bruising after childbirth, bloods showed I had low folic acid. I was breastfeeding, went on to have other tests but nothing else was found. After stopping breastfeeding I soon went back to normal Dr's said they think it was the pressure of a difficult pregnancy and then breastfeeding.
Ds had boozing prior to being diagnosed with coeliac disease.

I have itp (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpur) and unexplained bleeding /bruising is one of the symptoms.

Thank you all for getting back to me.
@NannyPearno I don't breastfeed, it's crazy what our bodies do to us ladies

I'm not on any medication, I think I'm over thinking it because the doctor mentioned leukemia and it's all I keep thinking about.
Time will tell, I have no patients for things like this x

Greengrapes DS was a high-needs velcro baby and I do look back and think I was running on empty at the time, giving my all plus more to breastfeeding hourly including during the night etc. I think my body was just a bit energyless. Still very peculiar as the bruises were extreme. The doctor was a bit concerned about the inner thighs especially as he couldn't fathom how they got their but it was probably DS climbing all over me! In the absence of bleeding elsewhere they didn't seem any more concerned though after the bloods were normal (and I had quite comprehensive bloods because it was a locum I saw first and the partner who reported them even said he usually wouldn't have ordered so many tests).

Another point though, is that DS suffered quite bad nose bleeds in recent months and is now getting tested for Factor VII deficiency which has a genetic component.

My legs were covered in completely mysterious bruises for about six months while I was at university. I did nothing except reassure people it wasn't my boyfriend (it really wasn't) and they went away eventually.

My friend was tested for same reason (leukaemia) but everything clear. No reason for the bruising but in the end they suggested (can’t remember why) it might be exacerbated by the vast amounts of orange juice she was drinking. Couple of years ago now and I didn’t look into why loads of orange juice might be implicated 🤷‍♀️

Orange juice! How strange.

You would think long periods of extreme bruising would show some sort of abnormality in bloodwork and there has to be an underlying cause. Keep us posted on the outcome OP!
