Piles... any suggestions?

I have had a small external one before, usually 2 days of discomfort and pop some cream on it - gone soon.

But recently it’s got worse, bigger and for longer. I thought it was going and it’s come back. I am now completely miserable about it and so uncomfortable

What product is best? Any helpful advice for me

Have you tried a suppository? Anusol is what I have used, usually do it last thing at night and wear underwear to bed. Then maybe repeat next night or after 48 hours depending on how it feels. I'm then usually fine until I don't drink enough water or eat badly.

I only have the cream. I was doing well with it For about a week until this morning for some unknown reason it just got a lot worse! I put some on, went to lie down, it did nothing to help! So I put some more on and hobbled downstairs to try to find a comfy position

You can order Scheriproct from a lot of online pharmacy , 2 that I know of are independentpharmacy and healthexpress. Just search on Google. In the mean time sit in warm to hot bath. Put some oil in it, coconut oil is best but any will do. Also apply oil liberally before you go. You can also apply witch hazel afterwards or any time if it stings.
Also take ibuprofen, anti inflammatory will help to keep swelling and inflammation down. With piles it is important to break the cycle of pain.
Also ashvini mudra yoga pose help to subside the pain. It is same like kegels , please find the exact method online. Might hurt more for first few seconds but you will feel immediate relief.
Anusol is a good medicine but prolonged use can irritate skin further because of zinc. Anusol HC has better results but again has zinc. If you are planning to buy anusol suppositories then buy with hydrocortisone to reduce the treatment time.

I couldn’t get anything online that would be here before Tuesday or Wednesday!
The anusol is completely useless I need something with lidocaine in it to get some relief. It has thrombosed now. So it is throbbing so badly
I’ve been having baths but I can’t even walk properly and I have work tomorrow! I’ve never had one burst before but I am wondering if that would at least give me some relief?

Make sure you're drinking enough water and increase your dietary fibre - won't help immediately but will help prevent it coming back. Good luck!

A thrombosed one won't heal with any cream but lidocaine will help numb the area. Use an ice pack till you can get of lidocaine as it might numb the area temporarily and provide some relief. If it gets worse during the day and you start getting sweats then please go to a&e and get a better pain relief. A&e are mostly empty right now, you will get proper treatment and much faster relief.

I find the anusol cream is useless, but the ointment really does soothe. I take painkillers as well. The anusol suppototories help a lot , but you have to use the regularly even after the file has shrunk.

Try running cold water on them in the shower or better still get
a bum gun installed for regular use.
I've tried everything for the pain and swear by, Germoline cream with anesthetic.

What would they do in A&E?

It hasn’t bled yet - I think it will if I have a BM
I am literally unable to sleep or move much, paracetamol isn’t really taking the edge off (can’t take ibuprofen)

It’s probably larger than a pea now - cannot touch the area at all even to put the cream on to be honest but I think I need the one with lidocaine - pharmacy opens at 11am so have been up since 6am just waiting for it to open

I had this recently and called my gp's. They have seen a surge in piles cases with lockdown as we are all sitting down a lot more.

Mine was thrombosed and it was absolute agony so you have all my sympathy. I did get prescribed some cream that was lidocaine and hydrocortisone combined. Gp did say they normally lance them when thrombosed but that has all been cancelled due to covid19. It took 8 days for the pain to subside. Try alternating paracetamol and ibuprofen and try and get some numbing cream. I hope you get some relief soon!!!

I am lying in a warm bath (it’s helping) and need to go to the pharmacy today. I am praying for a small to no queue! Also will see if they have a rubber ring. I feel like I might need a BM soon. I am planning on just seeing how much blood happens and if it’s v bad I will go to A&E as a last resort. She asked me to look at the colour but it’s covered in bloody greasy cream 😂

after 40 mins in a massive queue (wanting to lie on the floor) they were out of stock of the prescribed ointment 😫 no cushions either

I got germaloids anyway with the numbing agent at least for now.
I am now going a little bit numb thank god. So the throbbing is better. Still getting a lot of stabby pains. It says you can only use this 4 times a day which is already stressing me out!

I’ve had a look - scarred myself for life mentally and none the wiser as to what to do for the best! I have no idea whether to just call my GP tomorrow and ask for a referral or something rather than turn up at A&E?

Feeling really sorry for you. If the pain is really bad then goto a&e instead of GP. GP would just prescribe medication while a&e would actually treat the issue if they think the problem is really bad and will prescribe strong painkillers and numbing agent. A&e staff are usually more equipped to deal with thrombosed piles.

It’s ok the lidocaine is helping a bit now although know I have a bloody headache! I also went to the loo and was very careful it did not bleed which is a good thing!

Does anyone know if this cream will actually help and it will go on its own? Or once they thrombose do you have to have someone chop at them
I am in less pain but only as it’s numb!

It will eventually reduce. The average is 7-10 days. Mine wasn't lanced as the gps are not doing that at the moment. It did shrink though at about day 7. I think you have to let the clot drain away again which is what takes the time. I do have so much sympathy for you as it really is excruciating pain.
