6 months postpartum, still look pregnant?

Posted this in women's health initially, but it may be more general, I have no idea!



I had DS via elective C-section back in November, recovery all fine. My stomach went down after having him (not back to before but definitely down).

In about the last 2 months, my stomach has got round and I literally look about 20 weeks pregnant. I am SO bloated and tender from my breast bone down.

On top of this, I have been having really irregular bleeding (sometimes bright red clots, sometimes brown spots), hot flushes, pain in my lower abdomen and shortness of breath.

For reference I am 23, generally fit and well.

Has anyone had anything similar? Should I call the doctor now or wait until lockdown is over? I'm so unsure of what to do and my DP is being less than helpful with his neutral opinion!

Struggling to lose the tummy after a Caesarian is normal.

But tummy swelling more and irregular bleeding is not.

Contact dr, or even midwife or practice nurse. They will either be able to put your mind at rest (they know your full medical history we don't) or they'll ask you further questions and consider whether an exam or tests are needed.

Not to worry you, but these are all symptoms of ovarian cancer. Get yourself checked out ASAP.

Thanks both, I have just got off the phone to the GP who has asked me to go in for an appointment later today

Good I'm glad you're being seen. I'm afraid I also thought ovarian cancer but held back from saying as didn't want to freak you out. 2 of my aunts have had it and it's hard to get a diagnosis as the symptoms fit many other things too if you even get symptoms - 1 aunt had none it was discovered.via treatment for something unrelated!

the doctor did mention it today, but didn't seem too worried... unfortunately my mum was diagnosed with it at 26, so now I'm panicking more than ever!
Had some tests and just awaiting any further results

It’s really good they’ve taken you seriously and arranged for an appointment; particularly with your family history. It must be worrying for you.
However; just as likely it’s just your body adjusting back to not being pregnant and hormones being all over the show.
