Tartar on 18 month old's teeth!

I feel really terrible about this but despite daily brushing, my 18 month old ds has a line of what looks like tartar along the gumline at the front of his bottom 4 front teeth. I've tried scratching it with my nail and it is hard and won't come off. sad blush

Help! What do I do? It will only come off by being scraped off by a dentist, won't it? But he's so young, he wouldn't possibly be able to hold still for that!

Has anyone any experience of this?

sorry no experience of this but it definately sounds like you should seek advice from a dentist/hygenist
