Ear blocked with wax

Hi. My right ear is badly blocked with wax, I can’t hear anything with it and it’s been around a week and a half.
I’ve tried using olive oil and have recently moved onto bicarbonate of soda drops after getting advice from the doctor. Been using the bicarbonate of soda drops for 4-5 days now and made little difference. Unfortunately, I can’t get them cleaned out or syringed due to current pandemic.

Anyone have any advice to try and help unblock it? :)

I second that Otex kit in the link above, it's really easy to use and works well.

Is it easy to use yourself? I'm really suffering at the moment Sad. Do you need someone to do it for you?

I have had started this morning ear ache and blocked feeling but gland on that side sore.

I usually use sofradex ear drops but have ran out.
Not sure if it's infection or wax build up though.
How do you tell the difference?

I've had some success with this method:
Twice a day put olive oil drops, and leave them in for 20 minutes. Then put hydrogen peroxide drops, which will fizz and lift off softened wax.

Could take several days to start making a difference.

I get it all the time and the only thing I've ever had any success with it these little earwax scoops you can it on amazon... thin metal sticks with a scoop on the end! it's so gross but so satisfying! you have to be super gentle and patient, use loads of ear drops and dig away bit my bit...it can take days to make real progress but I used to have to get my ears syringed regularly but haven't had to since I've had my scoop Blush

DH had this recently. He bought an ear syringe online and I syringed both ears. It took quite a few goes but eventually we got the blockages out.

Do any of you get tinnitus with blocked ears? I've recently started getting it and wonder if actually I've got an infection now

You can use the optrex ear syringe on yourself. I had blocked ears at work once bought one in my lunch hour and used in staff toilets, it worked it was very satisfying.

Ditto getting an ear syringe. About £5 from Ebay \ Amazon. I had been using the otex ear drops and then bicarb ear drops for over a week with no improvement. After a couple of squirts it was DISGUSTING what came out. As one of the reviews said, "I could hear an ant fart - in high definition".

Can you recommend a syringe Jam? I've seen some that look like bulbs? Or traditional syringes?

20ml syringe with a 3 or 4 pointed end to squirt the water in different directions. Use warm water. If you are desperate, try a calpol syringe.

OP- my DH used the Otex kit for 5 days and yesterday finally unblocked his ear. He used the syringe twice yesterday. Not much good first time and he was going to give up, but it worked last night! My advice would be to perservere with it!

Are you sure it's wax?
I thought mine was, when i went to doctor about my chest they looked in my ear and even tho its not painful at all i had an infection.

Mine is still deaf now, i have fluid behind the ear drum so will have to wait a while before calling doctor as its been 6 weels now and it's not urgent annoying tho as im completely deaf in that ear
