What is this on 9MO DD's tummy?

Hi ladies

DD (nearly 9mo) had a bit of a red mark on her tummy yesterday, I brushed it off as she sometimes scratches at herself when she is in the bath.

Fast forward to today and it is more lesion-like in appearance. Even red surface with very defined edges and slightly scaly to touch. She has another, much smaller lesion further up nearer to her shoulder.

Does anyone have any idea what this is please? She seems happy and like her usual self. Is it a case for the GP?

Thank you!

I did think eczema, but my sister has it and eczma is usually paler/less defined, more like a crusty rash. I also thought psoriasis but dr google says very rare in babies

It really does look like the eczema my son had as a baby, nothing like the eczema I have though

There are several kinds of eczema, they don't all look the same.

@dangermouse17

That crossed my mind (I've had ringworm before) but it isnt in the tell tale circle shape. Although I guess it could be!

My dd has chronic eczema and a variety of types, she gets patches like that where she has got hot and things like her knicker elastic rubs, potentially her nappy has rubbed and caused a reaction maybe?

Could be anything really, I just thought ringworm as it looks a bit similar! If it's not bothering her/isnt too itchy, I would just keep an eye on it for now and put a bit of coconut oil on it if you have some. Coconut oil is a natural anti-fungal etc, so might just soothe it without making the skin "hot" if it turns out to be eczema...

That's great, thanks everyone for your advice. I'll try the coconut oil and just keep an eye out Smile

Eczema comes in different forms. Mine is often disc shaped

Looks like eczema. My dd has a colourless patch on her back that wont go. The patches in the creases of her elbows and knees go with making sure it is properly dry after a bath and a dab of moisturiser but the patch on her back nothing!
