Anyone ever had a sebaceous cyst?

So I found a lump on my arm a few months ago and thought nothing of it until I felt it last week and it felt hard and bigger. I saw my GP (luckily mine are still open for the moment) and he told me it's a sebaceous cyst. It will only be removed if it becomes too big or painful. I wouldn't say it's overly painful but I get a nerve like pain going from my mid forearm to the palm of my hand. Has anyone ever experienced this? Doctor said I'm welcome to have it looked in to for my peace of mind to make sure it's definitely not a tumour but in all honesty it wouldn't feel right with the current situation to be a burden on the NHS. I do trust this doctor as he has been precautions with me in the past and sent me to the hospital when he suspected a kidney infection. Just want to really know it the nerve like pain is at all normal😖 it comes and goes but DAMN it's annoying!

Where is the lump? The pain sounds like carpal tunnel. But if the lump is more wrist than arm it could be a ganglion which can also cause nerve pain.

Yes. Started out looking like a blackhead, tried to get it out but was soooo painful which led me to think it was something else. It got bigger and harder, went to docs and lo and behold, sebaceous cyst. Was given an appointment and got it taken out under local anaesthetic. It was under my arm just under armpit. Left a small scar which I am now treating with Cica Care to flatten it out.

@bobstersmum it's more towards my elbow. It's not noticeable just a little green 😖

@ladykuga mine literally just looks like a green lump on my arm. No head or anything. Doubt they'd consider removal unless I was in dire pain

Got one on my thigh which touches a nerve. Docs won't take it out though. The stabbing pain I get from it is every now and then is staggering. Very annoying

I have one, that comes and goes, behind my ear. It started after an operation to repair a perforated ear drum and they took the graft from behind the ear.
To be fair, it isn’t painful and eventually pops/oozes. Sounds gross but isn’t in reality.

@foreverhungry if the doc has diagnosed as sebaceous cyst and it doesn't bother you then leave it. Mine was quite sizeable that's why it was taken out. Sometimes I feel like the princess and the pea. Bloody lumps and bumps everywhere Confused

@ladykuga thanks for that. The pain is ok for the minute but I notice when I'm holding my 6 month old my arm starts to really hurt but I don't think that'll be a good enough reason to have it removed unless it stops me doing day to day things. I told the doctor I'd review the situation in September time, hopefully by then the CV situation will have died down somewhat so if it needs attention it can definitely wait until then.

@foreverhungry2409 definitely get it dealt with if it bothers you all the time but you won't be able to lift your child up for a week while it heals. Something to consider. Good luck.

I had one on the back of my neck several years ago. It had sat there for years, about the size of a pea, never changed. No pain.

Then over the space of about a week it got infected and grew unbelievably fast. By day 5 it throbbed all the time, really painfully. I had antibiotics but on day 2 of them, it burst. Such a relief.

Later I had an operation to remove the lining so it didn't recur. Had to have that twice as first attempt didn't get it all out. Left a scar about 2cm wide. Never troubled me since.

If you get a small amount on pain, but no other issues, I would leave it right now. But keep a close eye on it. Good luck xx
