GERD - Stomach constantly painfully full of air

Hi all,

Hoping someone else has experience of this and has suggestions 🙏

I’ve been diagnosed with GERD for 8yrs and have been on Omeprazole for most of that time.

Usually if I eat one of my many trigger foods I will get an extremely bloated stomach, filled with air and I don’t get how it got in there 🤷‍♀️
This is usually accompanied by nausea, stomach pain and excess acid.

When I’m having these episodes I might spend hours trying to burp myself by sitting upright and moving my upper body around in circles. I have to consciously force the air out or it just gets worse and worse. It keeps me awake at night unless I spend as long as it takes trying to get the air out. If I just lie down then acid comes up and I feel like I’ll be sick.

All of my problems are from my stomach upwards.

Products like rennies, gaviscon etc make the air 10x worse. I’ve tried adding Simethicone (WindEze) today and I wouldn’t say it did anything.

So! Praying you good people of MN have an idea or two ❤️ Thanks x

I haven't had this for a while to be honest but these are my 3 go-tos
Drink sips of water
A spoonful of yoghurt
Walk from the kitchen to the front door and back again about a 100 times
Hope you find some relief

I found eating a single grape every 15 minutes or the odd oatcake very helpful.

Good luck. I hope it settles down.

I get this due to IBS, I take buscopan when it happens. It's very effective as dispersing all of the wind. I get what you mean about having to burp yourself, it's like having colic extremely painful!

I find massaging my stomach gets rid of excess gas. I can burp for 20 minutes after it.
