Noticed it looked very slightly swollen last night and thought it was probably from him grabbing it whilst in the bath.
Today the swelling has increased, more so at the base & middle.
It isn't an angry red just slightly pink. Oh and yesterday he had a dry nappy when I went to change him for the first time ever.

She's en route...

its probably balanitus.

basically thrush in little boys. Ds3 had it a few weeks ago and teh Gp gave him some cream.

He might get horrid green lumpy pus come out the end, ds3's was pretty gross.

Not sure if a 10 month old would have the same treatment though, give him calpol/nurfen to help with the discomfort and any fever until you see the gp

Thanks for that - didn't know if i was worrying over nothing (1st time mum!).

He doesn't seem to have a temperature or be bothered by it - although he didn't grab it in the bath earlier which is very unusual.

Would you say it's ok to leave until Monday for GP visit? (don't fancy getting to the green lumpy pus stagegrin)

Nemo2007 Sat 08-Sep-07 21:20:37

might be ballinitis which means antibiotics and cream. Would go to walk in with him.

Nemo2007 Sat 08-Sep-07 21:22:17

personally would go when he wakes tommorow. IT can be really uncomfortable and if he is resisting peeing can make it worse

devonsmummy Sat 08-Sep-07 21:23:52

ok - i don't even know where our walk in is, better try and find out now.

LadyTophamHatt Sat 08-Sep-07 21:29:27

ds3' said his was sore, and it was very mishapen with the swelling.
It looked like he'd snapped it!!

The swelling was ALL pus, once all the disgusting green gunge came out he said it felt much better....but then got quite acttached to the feeling of the cold cream being put on his willy.

A 3yr old who know that his foreskin goes back can be a tricky one...

LadyVictoriaOfCake Sat 08-Sep-07 21:32:06

if you call your usual GP, they usually have an answer phone message with number to call for emergencies. i would definatly say that is an emergency and shouldnt be left till monday.

devonsmummy Sat 08-Sep-07 21:38:17

LTH - I thought it looked like it had been snapped too!

LVC - thanks (couldn't find anything on internet) will call GP and get number.

Just went up and felt his nappy and it's bone dry and been on for 2 and half hours. Thinking about it he had me up all last night, every 2 hours and I blamed it on teethingblush

devonsmummy Sat 08-Sep-07 21:39:03

LTH - how long did it take to clear up?

devonsmummy Sat 08-Sep-07 21:42:36

OMG - i've started to worry now that I've left him in pain. do you think I should take him tonight??

am being very indecisive (hubby working away)

Nemo2007 Sat 08-Sep-07 21:49:49

If it is easy to get to someone then I would go tonight. We ended up taking ds to a+e on his 3rd bday. Like your ds he had me up and down the night before saying he needed a wee but nothing was coming then his willy swelled right up and the pus was coming out.He was a lot better within 24hrs of having cream and antibiotics

fawkeoff Sat 08-Sep-07 21:51:51

i think you should go to the out of hours gp or a&e to make sure your little guys todge is ok

mymatemax Sat 08-Sep-07 21:52:02

ds1 has this at the moment, he is 7 tho so much easier for him to tell us how he feels.
He has been very itchy & its been painful esp after he wees.
Went to the docs who examined & when he pulled back the skin it is very red & inflamed underneath.
Anyway he advised, gentle bathing under the skin in the bath & has given Canesten cream & mupirocin cream as he said it could be either a thrush type infection or bacterial.
He also sent off a wee sample, just in case he has water infection as well, we get the results on Monday.
Hope your ds is feeling better soon.

devonsmummy Sat 08-Sep-07 21:52:04

thanks nemo

devonsmummy Sat 08-Sep-07 22:02:55

ok just phoned out of hours and waiting for call back from doctor. I'm such a wuss, feel all choked up for my poor little man sad

fawkeoff Sat 08-Sep-07 22:05:09

awww hun he will be ok.

Wilkie Sat 08-Sep-07 22:07:08

Devons - try not to worry. He will be fine - prob just a bit sore. Take him in the morning and they will get him sorted. Poor little boys - that's the prob with being a mother to a son. Cos their bits are alien to us it is hard to know what is 'normal' and what is abnormal and needs seeing to!

Don't worry though.

devonsmummy Sat 08-Sep-07 22:11:14

doc just phoned - says not to worry tonight if worse tomorrow or overnight to phone back. Can stop worrying now.

Thanks all

notsofarnow Sat 08-Sep-07 22:20:17

my son had this but he was screaming every so often that his willy hurt 3yr old. Antibiotics sorted him out.

What did doc say about him not weeing?

fawkeoff Sat 08-Sep-07 22:22:28

if your'e really worried then get hom down to a&e....did you tell them that he doesnt seem to be passing urine???

devonsmummy Sun 09-Sep-07 11:31:04

been drop in centre this morning as was bit of pus in nappy.
Doctor much nicer than the one I spoke to last night - got cream so should clear up in a couple of days.

Thanks for all your advice
