Tips to recover from chest infection

Itwasntme1 · 10/03/2020 20:26

I have had the worst chest infection of my life. It is gradually getting better, but two months in I am still exhausted, coughing and sore.

I have booked a weeks leave to try and rest and recover. Any hints on what I can/should do. I am so tired I could dry, but I don’t want to just spend a week watching tv. Very cold and wet here, so fresh air not really an option. I think if I went to a spa they would think I have the dreaded coronaVirus (which I don’t 😊).

Four years ago I got the flu followed by pneumonia, it took me around three months to feel better. Time is really the best thing and taking it easy on your week off, sleep as much as you can. I took Sambulcol which I think helped quite a bit too and I still take it every winter now. Chest infections are horrible, hope you feel better soon.

Oh and vitamin d3 will help too.

Had never heard of Sambulcol, so will look that up.

Thank you

I'm on the road to recovery after first falling ill end Jan.
I'm taking: pure blackcurrant juice , probiotics, echinacea, rubbing my chest and soles of feet with Vicks, vitD3 and as I type this have my head over a steaming bowl.
Have you had antibiotics?
I'm in Italy so understand when you mention the virus!

Raw garlic, raw ginger every day.
Chicken soup. Green tea.

Oh yes, homemade chicken broth, I've been doing it every week and it really seems to soothe my throat.

I have had two rounds of antibiotics - hate taking them but was pretty desperate. Doctor has been great - I took a few days off when it was at its worst, but she says it will never get better if I don’t take toe, to recover.

Just so bored of being sick. And the though of a week ‘resting’ sounds such a waste of annual leave

I'm off too (obvs) which is kind of good as I'm taking so much stuff I wouldn't have time!
I had 10 days of antibs.
Am thinking of getting one of those portable nebuliser thingies from Amazon.

I could look on it as a practice run for self isolating😊.
