Hyperactivity just before chronic pain flare up or migraine?

Does anyone else have this?

I have hypermobility, have suffered some serious joint injuries which cause chronic pain, and get frequent migraines. I've noticed that when pushed to my limit (exhausted, pain) I seem to get a surge of adrenalin that makes me act like I'm a bit manic/hyperactive, before I crash with a serious pain flare up, or a migraine a few hours later/next day. It can make me look temporarily healthier than I am, and it sort of semi-hides my real state from myself. I find it hard to recognise when I am in that state and calm myself/go and lie down. Then... crash.

Does anyone else get this? If so, how do you recognise it in yourself, and does going immediately to bed or taking triptans for migraine actually help it from developing into a big flare up or migraine?

Funnily enough yes a similar thing can happen here.

Hypermobile and also hypothyroid but I think that's ok at the mo - but it will be an additional issue I think as t4 isn't a perfect replacement for a healthy thyroid.

I seem to be able to get a surge of hyper energy and then crash the next day. It's closely linked to my work pattern but can happen at other times when not at work.

I don't get migraines but I do get body pain and fatigue and I've been getting some peripheral neuropathy in my hands and feet when I crash.

Ive read that hypermobilty can have nervous system links to things like adrenaline and anxiety; beta blockers can sometimes help some. Unfortunately they Interfere with my thyroxine, I used to take them and was quiet well but took more thyroxine then.

I don’t suffer from hypermobility or chronic pain, but do suffer from severe migraines and often get a hyper, full of energy and also very hungry (I’ll eat anything!) phase about 1-2 hours before a migraine. Interestingly I can also almost never recognise it until afterwards too.

I get this - I always know when I'm going to have a crash or come down with something as I'll suddenly start blitzing the house (well, in comparison to my normal shit levels of energy anyway). My son has this as well, and he and I both have part of a chromosome missing (c 20) so that might have something to do with it - or that I have ME/Fibro/UCTD and he has suspected ADHD.

Yup.

I am exactly the same. Feel amazing, full of energy for a couple of hours.

Then bang. Migraine.

Thanks all, ironically my post was a last flurry of activity before a migraine!

I'm going to see if taking a triptan when the hyperactivity hits, rather than waiting for the migraine, can help head it off.
