General health

Light headed hungry & thirsty

Since Saturday lunch time when I probably waited to long between meals to have a rare late lunch out with DH. I have been feeling intermittently light headed (a bit woozy and unwell/out of it), hungry (craving sweet things) and thirstier than usual (including thirsty during the night). I haven’t lost any weight these feelings are just intermittent. I have been sleeping badly for much longer than this due to a sore shoulder.
I am thinking low blood sugar levels, I am over weight so I am thinking maybe also diabetes. What do you all think?
I haven’t bothered my GP with this yet as I have a number of health conditions and find my GP practice seems very busy difficult to get an appointment and when you do they are often quite dismissive.

I should maybe also add I have an underactive thyroid on medication and up to date with blood tests and I had low blood pressure when I was pregnant with the children and just afterwards but my blood pressure has been within the normal range for awhile.

What you’re asking for is specialist medical advice so maybe people are wary in case they advise you incorrectly. I’d be surprised if one late lunch in someone who isn’t underweight would cause long term problems. Always worth checking for diabetes though.

Id go get tested for diabetes. You aren’t bothering your GP. If you have it you need to have a treatment plan in place ASAP. If you haven’t got it that’s great and you can ask for advice on how to relieve the symptoms you are experiencing. It could be pre-diabetes in which case there is much that can be done to try reverse it. But as Freda says it would be dangerous for anyone on here to advise you especially as you have other conditions that need taking into consideration.

Thanks I had a test for diabetes at a pharmacy about 4 years ago and the test came back ok. I will look into pre diabetes and try and get a GP appointment next week.

I get out of sync sometimes, if I've missed a meal or had a sugar hit.
I get a bit migrainey.
I try and address it with really slowly digested foods- raw veg, oats, healthy fats, and a caffeine hit. And a couple of paracetamol.
A bacon sandwich (whole meal bread), coffee and paracetamol with some raw fruit and veg tends to settle me down.

Thanks that’s what I was wondering if I could help myself with food I was having over night oats and fruit for breakfast but switched back to toast and jam a few weeks ago.
