By fransmom on Tue 04-Sep-07 20:51:04
thnak you firefly x i have slightly rounded shoulders as well. i was forever being told to sit up straighter and pull my shoulders back when i was younger. do you know of any links?

I, from time to time, have really bad aches in my spine & if I turn too fast I can hear the vertabrae clicking. I attended a chiropractor for a while but he wasn't really helping me that much. He told me my vertabrae all piled on top of each other & needed spacing out... I came out aching & was just as bad the next day again!!

No, you shouldn't end up in a wheelchair!

I also have mild scoliosis & apart from slightly rounded shoulders, nothing is apparent.

It aches like blazes though!

When I was younger I had to go to hospital to be assessed for an operation to put a metal rod in my spine, I was deemed not bad enough. And you know, when I went to the hospital I wasn't half grateful when I saw how badly off some of the other wee ones were.

I don't know anything about the osteoarthritis though.

have come to keep you company, fransmum......know zilch about this though.......sounds like you need to go back to gp and get him/her to explain it all really clearly.....sorry

fransmom Wed 05-Sep-07 21:47:46

that's ok. i recognise you smile the name is not enough of a disguise

MaureenMLove Wed 05-Sep-07 21:49:31

Sorry lovey, I don't have any knowledge of this, but I agree with Zombie, get yourself back to the doctors. There's no point worrying yourself and filling your head with 'what ifs'. You'll make yourself ill and miserable. Go to the doctors and don't leave until you are referred to someone who can help you.

ZoMbIeTaLcY Wed 05-Sep-07 22:08:55

tonight seems to be quie quiet, fransmum, keep this thread bumped and you may well get people that know something about it, over the next few days.

I do hope you can speak to a gp who will explain things.

AbRoller Wed 05-Sep-07 22:15:03

Hi fransmom, I don't know anything about it but I didn't want you to think I just didn't bother my arse to post. Hopefully someone will come along who can help. In the meantime I'll google some stuff and keep this in my 'threads I'm watching' list. If I find anything I'll pop back.

Take care

fransmom Wed 05-Sep-07 22:15:43

aww. thank you sweetheart x

AbRoller Wed 05-Sep-07 22:20:23

this any good?

There's quite a lot of info sites on google but this seemed the most readable on the first page.

AbRoller Wed 05-Sep-07 22:24:17

this one is more up to date but still only reviewed in 2004. Will try to find more recent info.

fransmom Wed 05-Sep-07 22:25:10

aww thanks abs. wil try and print it out so have soemthing to show gp and can highlight then where things are relevant to me . you're a darling x

pippo Wed 05-Sep-07 22:26:17

I'm sorry I can't specifically answer your question but thought that I would share that dh has scoliosis (had rods put in when 18) and also quite severe osteoarthritis (had a hip replacement this year) and has had various other joints sorted too. He is early 30s and although often in pain/discomfort is still pretty active & a long way from a wheel chair. He has recently been referred to local sports centre for an individual program (keep fit , gym etc). - Perhaps if you go back to your your gP for further info they could refer you for something like this too? Good luck.

AbRoller Wed 05-Sep-07 22:26:34

now this one is from 2007 and looks quite good. Hope it helps.

Abs smile
