strawberry birth marks

My daughter was born with two small pink marks, one on her head, just above her hair line and the other on her back.Over a few weeks they rapidly grew and got darker before they became raised. They have been diagnosed as strwberry nevus, irregular blod vessels. She is now 2months now and both appear to have slowed down in growth, both are the size of a ten pence peice. The bright side is that they eventually fade over time. I do admit that they arent the nicest of things to look at but i love her all the same, srawberry marks and all! would love to hear any sililar cases

My dd, now aged 10, developed one on her back which was about the size of a ten pence piece too. It was also raised. I just monitored it and it did eventually fade completely. However there is still a slightly palpable fleshy raised bit where it was but no-one notices it anymore...As a toddler people used to ask me where she got her 'bruise' from, anytime we went swimming

Coincidentally, at the time that she was born, in my baby group of about 7 mums , two other babies had strawberry marks also - one had one on his forehead and the other on her arm..all of which disappeared in due course!

My son had one on his tummy. It started to fade when he was about 2. He's now 2.5 and you can hardly see it.

dd2 is 6mo and has 2 one on each side of her torso. They don't bother me at all but they are hidden under her clothes. Interesting about your ds's MumtoBen, my GP said they'd fade around 7yrs so nice to know it can be earlier.

DS had one on his back - probably took until about 8 or 9 to fade completely but definitely had become less livid by the time he was at school.

ProfYaffle,

dd's had faded by 7yrs but it was definitely still visible at age 4 yrs. I only remember because at that time, a friend looked after dd for an afternoon and my friend was a little upset when I arrived to collect her. My friend thought that dd had bruised her back while in her care - she hadn't realised dd had a strawberry mark!
