I was put on 8mg of it in Sept by ENT and it did nothing -I prob had one of my worst attacks in Nov and really struggled for a couple of months esp at work. It was all I could do to get through my 4 days.
I got so fed up w feeling terrible I went to gp and she put dose up to 16mg two weeks ago (which I read is the standard dose) and it’s like I’ve gone back to normal again pretty much (the tinnitus has eased off a bit too and it def gets worse just before an attack). I’ve got ENT in March and I hope to report a real improvement. However, I was going a few months in between attacks prior to the betahistine being prescribed. The one I had prior to November was in July. My longest gap was the previous July to March of the following year. All happened at work. They are very nice about it thankfully.
Have pretty much been diagnosed w Ménières now too, whereas before it was ‘just’ vertigo (started over 2 yrs ago on and off although I had some attacks for a few months in 2012 I didn’t have any for 7 years in between). I could cope w the odd attack but not the constant feeling of nausea/underlying vertigo and just wanting to stay at home.
