Crackling when breathing out

My DS (2) has been ill this past week with a cough and cold. Last night I started to feel rough, couldn't put my finger on why but just felt wiped out.
All last night I was coughing, but its more of a dry cough, no mucus or snot.
This morning my whole body aches, feels like my bones hurt. I feel wiped out again but also when I breath out there is a quiet crackling noise, this isn't every breath - more like when I consiously breath out as much as I can.

Has anyone experienced similar? Not sure if it warrants a same day appointment. I'm staying off work to rest and hoping it doesn't get any worse 🤞

Crackles can mean there is fluid in the air sacs . Sometime pneumonia I would see doc to get a head start on treatment rather than waiting and seeing
Are you breathless too ?

@pajamagirl Yes a little bit, my breathing feels slightly laboured / shallow compared to normal.

I don't have a high temperature or anything. It's just literally this cracking / general crap feeling.

I had this when I had pneumonia.

I would go to GP.

Chest infection?
You need to see a GP or out of hours today. Don't wait for it to get worse.

definitely get seen. many adults with pneumonia don't think they are 'that' ill, but you do need the right antibiotics quickly and REST, seriously, if it is you must take enough time off work and rest, it is the only way to get rid of it

I've not had an appointment, I took some ibuprofen and paracetamol and had a long bath and a nap and I feel a bit better. The crackles are still there but I feel ok in myself so I am going to see how I go.

please please keep a close eye on it. Get a GP appointment, or at least ask if a pharmacist/nurse can listen to your chest. If you feel better before it arrives, you can always cancel. Pneumonia can go downhill fast.

Thanks @steppemum I had a change of heart and got an appointment at 4pm today. I'll report back.

Its a mild chest infection, the crackling is mucus in my throat / top of lungs apparently. Told to wait it out.
