Recall after mammogram

jane2314 · 01/02/2020 11:17

I've just been recalled after a routine mammogram for more tests next week. My previous mammogram was fine (I'm 53) and have had no symptoms so hoped all would be well. I'm floored by it and alternating between feeling slightly nervous and absolutely terrified. I'm normally quite pragmatic so this is unlike me.

Any tips or reassurance would be welcome. The letter says I can take someone with me but I'm currently thinking I'll go on my own - is this a good idea?

Thanks so much.

Happens to me every time.

In my case they normally want a better image so I get called in for an ultrasound before being given the all clear. I'm prone to cysts which doesn't help. I'm due one myself next month and have got the most enormous cyst that's developed over the last 6 months so I know it'll be yet another recall.

It's not automatically bad news

Thank you Witchqueen. I keep trying to tell myself not to worry but I'm of course thinking the worst!

The waiting is awful I know - hope you get an all clear quickly.

I wish they'd just book me in for the mammo and ultrasound automatically. It would certainly save me some angst. Although I know why they are recalling me each time there is always that little voice saying what if this time is different.

I've been recalled twice, each time had a 3D mammogram and ultrasound and it has been ok. I'm dreading my next mammogram as I'm sure it will be the same.

The one stop clinic they refer you to does everything but there is quite a bit of waiting.

You're young (I was told) and they have not much to compare it too. It must only be your second or third scan?

They reacall you make sure. I hope all goes well, sure it will Flowers

Thanks everyone. I'm going tomorrow - your messages have been very helpful. Am very anxious but realise that it's better to know if there's a problem.

Thanks everyone for your messages. I've been to my appointment and all is well. I had more mammograms and ultrasound and they decided all was fine. The mammograms today didn't show anything. I'm very very relieved and it's made me very grateful for our health service. Everyone I met today was helpful, considerate and professional and there was very little time waiting.

I'm counting my blessings.

Thanks to everyone who reassured me.

Great news and you can be fully reassured by having such a thorough check up. Smile
