Sorry for the graphic photo.

So after opening my bowels just now
I wiped and to my surprise this was what I wiped away. I took a photo as maybe I'll need to see a doctor and they would need to see this. I was in shock.
So I didn't have to strain as I've been dieting so pooing daily.
Yes in past I've had a small about of blood after wiping my bum but nothing like this. Never clots like this.
I have had a pain in my right lower/middle hand side of tummy over last couple of days but tbh didn't think much of it and back ache but just assumed back ache was unfit ness really.
Today I have gone dizzy on and off a few times but put it down to not sleeping only catching 3-4 hours in a 24 hour period and not necessarily all in one go.

I am concerned I'm unsure what to do really
My partner said oh it will be polips and burst open but never had that before I duno
Just looking for adduce please anyone
Thanks in advance x

Phone 111 and ask them, not random strangers on the Internet. With the pain and dizziness, you should get this looked at urgently. It might not be anything to worry about, but you need a medical professional to tell you that, not us.

Make an appointment with your GP.

I have had similar and it has been haemorrhoids which responded well to treatment. But such bleeding can be indicative of other, more serious problems.

Go get it checked out tomorrow. It might be nothing but obviously any blood or change in bowel habits should be checked immediately. Could be a virus that's in your gut and also making you dizzy but it is definitely necessary to get it checked out Asap

By the way, I think bright red fresh blood is way more likely to be harmless than dark red or black blood as it implies that it's something like piles nearer the rectum than something high up in the bowel.

Thank you for the helpful comments
It's the blood clots that worry me most
Along with the pain

Call the NHS helpline. They are best placed to ask the right questions and give appropriate advice.

I hope they can give you peace of mind OP.Smile

You can absolutely get blood clots from piles. Yes, get it checked out (I'd say on Monday with the gp) but don't panic because the most likely cause is internal piles.

Report
DramaAlpaca · 19/01/2020 02:44

I'd also say piles. Don't panic, OP, just see your GP.

Not again. Why do people keep posting this crap? Yes, it may be piles or an anal fissure but rectal, anal and descending colon cancer will also present as bright red blood. Just because the issue is near the rectum doesn’t render it harmless.

Probably piles but why take the risk?
Alongside abdominal pain and dizziness I would be getting checked out ASAP.
Good luck OP.

I think you should go to a walk in tomorrow.

111 is as good as useless.

You’re in pain & bleeding- don’t wait until Monday.

I hope it’s ‘just’ haemorrhoids or something like that 🤞🏼

AlexaAmbidextra

This is what is says on the Cancer Research UK website:

Most often, blood in the stool is from piles (haemorrhoids), especially if it is bright red, fresh blood. Piles are like swollen veins in the back passage. These veins are fragile and can easily get damaged when you pass a bowel motion, causing a little bleeding

Blood from higher up in the bowel doesn't look bright red. It goes dark red or black and can make your bowel motions look like tar. This type of bleeding can be a sign of cancer higher up the bowel. Or it could be from a bleeding stomach ulcer for example

That's why I posted "this crap". Just trying to reassure the poster in the middle of the night.

Bright red blood may come from swollen blood vessels (haemorrhoids or piles) in your back passage. It may also be caused by bowel cancer.

This is from Bowel Cancer UK.

blood in or on your poo (stool), or bleeding from the back passage (rectum) – the blood may be bright red or dark

This is from Macmillan

Rectal bleeding with bright red blood

This is from the American Cancer Society

I agreed that yes, it may have a harmless cause but as you see from above, bright red blood is also a symptom of cancer. And yes, cancer higher up the bowel will cause dark red blood. Nowhere does it say that bright red blood is not cancer.

seek medical advice either 111 or a walk in centre. No one can diagnose without a proper examination.

Go to A&E if you are still bleeding and abdominal pain or get emergency doctors to check it out appointment ASAP

Hope you are alright.

I am not surprised you are concerned, that is not normal in any shape or form. Providing you feel ok for the remainder of today and have no further episodes of dizziness then I think it could safely wait until morning and phone your GP first thing. Obviously if it continues, increases in severity or you feel unwell then go immediately to your A & E department. Try taking two paracetamol and see if your tummy pain settles. If it continues despite the analgesia , or gets worse then don't delay, go immediately to hospital. Hopefully it will settle down until tomorrow .

Sorry no way of editing post, is there any possibility it could be coming from your vagina ? Or any possibility you may be pregnant? Just sometimes it can be difficult to distinguish where exactly bleeding is coming from, especially when wiping .

Report
ParsleyPot · 19/01/2020 17:44

Seek professional advice OP. Hope you're ok.

I have piles and a slight fissure that flares up intermittently so occasionally have blood on wiping. I have never had that much, never had clots and I can feel the piles or the soreness of the small tear spot when I wipe. The only pain is the sore tear. I think with abdominal pain and clots you need this checked out just to be on the safe side. It could be lots of things - mostly pretty harmless but you want to know and have it treated.
