Anyone experienced this - weird?(16 Posts)
Could you have a hiatus hernia or gall bladder problem? Indigestion presents in me like that and curiously when my asthma is aggravated.
Thank you all. I think it must be linked somehow to eating. @OneMoreRound it’s was a chicken stir fry with rice and the symptoms lasted only a few mins, so I didn’t think food poisoning.
I’ve had acid reflux/indigestion before and this did feel different...but perhaps it just presented differently.
I’ll see if it happens again. Really reassuring to see others say it’s happened to them and mostly eating related. Thank you for that.
Yes I've had that, just as you describe it particularly with couscous and rice, it's seems to sit in the middle of my chest with a weird feeling. I was thinking perhaps I have become sensitive to these foods so much that I've reluctantly given them up.
Apparently the pain can trigger a vasovagal response, which could have been the faint-like state you experienced.
Did it have any kind of seafood in it? Any that might have gone off, potentially causing scombroid poisoning?
I've had many episodes of something that sounds very similar. I think of it as a cramp in my oesophagus. The only thing that eases it is drinking ice cold water. Not sipping it not gulping it, but smoothly drinking several good mouthfuls at a time.
I have not been able to identify a trigger, but I get it more often and more severely when I am overweight and eating badly. It's been looked at, and I'm not having heart attacks, but I do have a little bit of inflamation at the stomach sphincter.
I had this once after eating a spaghetti bol made with quorn mince. It was about 2 hours after eating it though, but oh my goodness did I feel awful. It just suddenly started, this horrible nausea and watery mouth. I thought I was going to be sick but wasnt in the end. Then as soon as it started, it stopped.
I looked it up and apparently lots of people have this reaction to quorn. Maybe it was a bad reaction to one of the ingredients?
That’s why I was frightened...but I’m only 39 and quite healthy. I’ve gotten home and exercised since, so I can’t think that it was. I will monitor if it happens again though.
It does sound like a heart attack. I'd go to the doctor the next chance you get just in case. The symptoms are v v different fir a woman, I think it's more like you e described and less like the sharp sudden pain in chest and arm that men get.
True, I’ll have to do a bit of googling. I thought it was the start of a heart attack for a few minutes. I was quite frightened and debating calling first aid. Glad I didn’t now lol. It was quite restricting and uncomfortable.
Thank you for your response...that could be it. I ate as normal really, no different to usual...just my first time getting this. I did think at one point I would vomit, but it was just a queasy feeling in the end.
It was the tension in my jaw and the feeling of ‘stuck’ in my chest along with nausea...just horrible. Hopefully just a one off then and linked to air in the tummy.
Might be indigestion? I've usually had it as a burning sensation at the back of my throat, but it can present in different ways.
Hi there, no, it was completely homemade...even the sauce. But thank you for the suggestion!
Yes, it's usually wind related with me (I have IBS) and sometimes results in vomiting, in fact I take it as a sign I'm going to be sick. Assuming no existing stomach problems did you eat it a bit too quickly, or was your stomach unusually empty before eating? A big meal can sort of sit on a big pocket of air (that's what it feels like anyway) with me and that sometimes means it comes back up!
Hi, today I ate my lunch (stir fry) and about ten mins later I had a wave of nausea, followed by a strange feeling in my chest. My mouth went tense and young felt strange. Then I seemed to produce tonnes of saliva. The queasiness lasted 5 mins and the. It all just went away?!
