Headache at the same time every day

Hi everyone I was hoping someone might be going through the same as me so I don’t feel crazy. I may have posted about this before, I can’t remember. For the past year or two I have been getting a certain feeling each day and it starts out at around 3 pm. It only happens on work days and my work hours are 7am-3pm. I travel to work fine for 7am however on the journey home at 3pm I feel awful. I feel as though I have a headache and slight lightheadedness as well as a touch of nausea. I travel home 1 hour on train and bus and I’ve convinced myself that I’ve probably become very dehydrated throughout my work day and by 3pm my body is tired, fatigued and needs rehydrating. I told my gp and he said that it’s impossible for something to happen to you at the same time every say. I am convinced it’s after my work shift.. even if I changed days or hours it would still happen after the working day ends.

Has anyone had this before? I try to drink 2-3 small cups of water through my shift and 2 cups of tea.

Thank you

You may need a healthy snack if you have not eaten all day.
I feel grotty if l have not eaten for 6 hours!

If it’s only on the way home could it be travel sickness?

Definitely the lack of food and dehydration.
Can you switch around some of your lunch items to have more carbohydrates at lunchtime?
Those glucose tablets you can buy at the pharmacy are handy also as they can provide quick energy.
It can also be caffeine withdrawal symptoms if you drink less caffeine earlier in the day on work days.

Sounds like I feel when I’m travel sick. Have you tried taking a travel sickness tablet? I’m always much worse when travelling on an empty stomach. Maybe take a sandwich or something to eat before you get on the train?

Agree more water than that throughout the day, bring a bottle in your handbag and also suggest a banana to eat as soon as you finish your shift.

When does the feeling pass and what occurs prior to this, so when you get home how do you feel, do you have to take painkillers to make it shift or does eating dinner get rid of it etc? Process of elimination here really.

Have you had your eyes tested?

Hi all,

No I don’t take pain killers it kind of just dies down as soon as I’m resting, I'm not huge but I'm quiet unfit and get very out of breath just doing basic things. I just got out of breath taking a sip of water because it required me to stop breathing for a second.. and walking up a hill or a flight of stairs nearly finishes me off. I’ve just drank half a bottle of water on the way to work and il try to drink two bottles today as well as my tea etc.

See how you are today with more water in you but I'd also consider how much you're eating, do you get a proper lunch break and if so how long after it do you finish your shift? Could be a drop in blood sugar levels after being on your feet for a while.

Another one saying lack of water, food (or maybe caffeine).

What does your job involve? Maybe some kind of mild migraine/headache from computer screens?

2-3 small cups of water would do me for about an hour or two, no wonder you have a headache!

Another vote to get your eyes tested too. The lights in my office really hurt my eyes so if I don’t wear glasses I sometimes have an eye strain headache by the end of the day

I started getting a headache at around the same time each afternoon - it turned out to be the lights at work.

OP, what's your diet like?

if you aren't eating well/staying hydrated then you feel like this.

I have completely changed my diet and drink a whole lot more, and it does make a difference.

What do you do for a job? I'm getting afternoon headaches at the moment and taking it as a sign I need to get my glasses/eyes checked - I use a screen all day. It could also be lights, the air con in your work environment, all sorts of things.

My little one finds tube light in ceiling tile type ceiling lights with reflectors gives him headache apparently they flicker faster than we can see some people are more sensitive and the brain works overtime trying to process the flickering as a steady lights source

I used to get headaches at school at the same time every day after a certain class and it was the TVs they used causing it. Have you had your eyes tested recently?

Thank you guys for the interesting suggestions, yes I drank today 2 50cl bottles of water nearly and 2 cups of apple juice.. still not enough and also I still got the headache. I actually don’t like water I always struggle to drink enough. How many should I drink per day? I also get those headaches in supermarkets I am convinced it’s because of the bright lights

More water and more protein. If your diet is rubbish and carb heavy, you are probably experiencing a blood sugar crash mid-day.
