Whooshing sound in ear

I’ve booked in to see my GP but they didn’t have any appointments till next week, so I’m the meantime just wondering if anyone has had similar or has any tips to help ease the symptoms in the meantime.

I feel like My sinuses have been blocked up since around the start of Nov, constantly got that full of cold feeling, facial pain etc.

Last night I woke in the night and had a whooshing sound in my ear, like I could hear my heartbeat. This morning the ear feels blocked and occasionally painful. I’m also feeling like I’m being pulled down, like gravity is actually trying to push me into the floor. It’s awful. I’m a lone parent so have to crack on with things, but feel like all I can do is lie down.

Any ideas?! Does this sound like it could be vertigo?Thanks in advance

Not sure about the ear, sorry.

Have you tried a saline spray up your nose to help to clear your sinuses? Anything you can do to clear that up might help with the ear.

When I had swimmer's ear I took some advice and put a tsp of vinegar in my ear (eaiser if someone can do it for you). I did the same again 24 hours later. It worked a treat.

Get your iron (and vit D, if they'll do it) checked. Tinnitus is one of the signs of anaemia which would tie in with the feeling of fatigue and being unwell.

I second going to get advise from a pharmacist, if they feel it needs Dr care they may even intervene on your behalf and speak to the Dr surgery on your behalf, my pharmacist has done for me on occasion.

I third the pharmacist. They can quite often sell you something that will help or push you up queue if you do need a doc. I get the whooshing regularly with sinusitis and Sudafed normally sorts it but def speak time your pharmacist!

Could be high blood pressure, definitely get advice

Thankyou everyone. Pharmacist is a good shout so I’ll start with that.

Am only mid thirties so hopefully not high blood pressure, but have been under a lot of stress this past year (divorce) so you never know. I’ll mention that anyway, and ask about anaemia too.
