Cat bite infected?

My DCat bit me yesterday evening and broke the skin. It’s hot, red, sore and swollen. And just looking at it now it looks like I’ve scratched myself -wondering if it’s infected and tracking down my arm?

Cat bites/scratches can go very nasty. Out of hours for sure and right now.

My cat bit me once and it got infected, it looked just like that. You need antibiotics and possibly a tetanus shot, go to the out of hours doctor!

Go to the hospital tonight. It looks like it is tracking. You will need antibiotics. My cat bit me a few months ago and I was unable to use my fingers. It was taken very seriously in the minor injuries unit and they sent me over to A and E immediately.

I knew someone who left it so late to get treatment for a cat bite that she was very close to having her hand amputated. Hie thee to a hospital!

Ok. Fairly resounding replies! DH is taking me to A&E (wish I’d got my arse in gear earlier as minor injuries closed at 10pm). We have books for long wait. DCat looked at me innocently as he lounged on the sofa!😼

That's an a&e job. I wouldn't wait for a&e if it's come up like that so quickly.

And thank you all! Made up my mind - although worry I’m being fraud like!

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-england-london-48596508 don't feel fraud like, I think they will take it very seriously after this sort of incident. Sad
I'm being treated for cat scratch disease atm (not the same thing) and had found this through googling my condition!

I logged in when I saw your post to say, you must absolutely go to A & E.
A parent at school gave me the same advice when she saw my infected cat bite and she is a surgeon !
Intravenous antibiotics plus they opened up my hand twice to clean it.
Please please go.

Hope it goes well OP in a and e. You are absolutely not being a fraud.

I've been scratched deeply and numerously by a semi feral cat tonight. I was catching him to return to my friend from whom he ran away three months ago. My paramedic DP is keeping a very close eye on them as the likelihood of infection is very high.

Just got back from A&E with some antibiotics (and given tetanus shot). So all good! Thank you!

Antibiotics are working - hurrah! All the tracking has gone and significantly less swollen. 😺
