I eat reasonably ok I think. I walk alot too but constantly getting full blown sickness bugs that last days. Any idea how I can build my immune system up a bit to ward them off? Can you do that with sickness bugs or would I get it either way?

Hand washing properly. Just with soap and hot water, antibacterial stuff doesn’t kill Noro. Watch a YouTube video to see how to do it.

Yep, proper hand washing regularly and especially before eating.

Wash all raw fruit and veg before eating.

Don't touch your face a lot.

Hand washing.

Immune system is a bit of luck and a healthy lifestyle with good food, exercise, sleep and low stress.

I think it's just luck.

I generally get no viruses and have only had 2 days off work in 7 years. Both ds's have had about 2 days off in the whole of their primary.

I have a stomach of an ox and nothing upsets me. Why are some children sickly? Why do some catch everything going? I have no idea. I don't think hand washing makes that much difference. I don't wash my hands that much, if I'm dishing up dinner And something falls on the floor I just pick it up and pop it in my mouth, so only the Lord knows why I'm never ill. like I said before I think it's just luck!

I'm the same, had stomach bugs on and off since October. I've just had the mother of all stomach viruses that hopefully has finally left me. Being stressed has played a part in it though, so as previous posts suggested eating healthy, good hygiene and definitely keep your stress levels down if you can. Recharge yourself as much as you can and have plenty of early nights.

@Oblomov19 I think there is a link to over-using anti-bac/bleach etc and sickier children. They’re not exposed to as many bugs to get their immune system working so end up catching everything.

Once dd had caught every single new bug at nursery she hasn’t been ill at all for almost a year. I am certainly not overly hygienic!

I agree Mustard. It all seems a bit over-zealous these days with someone anti-bac'ing as soon as they've touched a door handle!

I'm 45, healthy and active I don't over do it with bleach etc but I do wash my hands after the toilet and before my meals so do my children. I still catch bugs though because there are so many new viruses that come out every year. It's the people who don't wash their hands and go the toilet in the supermarket or whilst out shopping that spread the germs. If everyone practised good hygiene there would be less bugs spreading around. But unfortunately that is not the case.

The best advice I received from my dad was to wash your hands before meals and after toilet. I've always been a stickler for this with my own kids and even remind my DH. I've hardly ever caught a stomach bug.
