Possible slipped disc sciatic nerve pain

Anyone been through anything like this waiting for mri consultant was ok said pain is worse than child birth have some meds for muscle spasms leg cramps feels like someone’s hit my lower left side of back with hammer am also taking maximum dose paracetamol as can’t take ibuprofen it’s been 4weeks the consultant said you can’t make it worse keep moving well walking slowly is the only thing that brings slight relief sitting is agony laying down impossible sleeping in a chair semi lying but no where near flat have read website after website but nothing seems to seem similar to what I’m experiencing I’m crying in pain 3or4tmes a day iv had kids without pain relief just don’t get how it’s not feeling any easier the most sleep I can get is 2 hours than have to walk around for sometimes 3 hours before I can try again they x rayed me said nothing showed up has any been like this for so long without a few hours of relief that’s all I want even when dozing I can still feel the throbbing then when I get up spasms and cramps I’m so desperate please has anyone experienced this at this level keep reeding about people with the same going to work getting in car etc can’t even lean forward enough to brush teeth please I really would appreciate some help my doctors have been useless

GP for pain relief! I had this and was on a cocktail of morphine, tramadol, diazapam, gabapentin, and coedine. It was the worst pain of my life.
You don't have to suffer like this. Get an appointment asap.

So sorry you’re in so much pain. I ended up being hospitalised with the pain when I first had a disc problem (couldn’t walk/move). The hospital gave me Endone to deal with the pain and after about 6 days it was manageable. Then was prescribed Lyrica/Pregabalin by GP to deal with residual nerve pain which I’m still taking 12 months on and find really helps. Also had a cortisone injection into my disc but that did nothing. But other people I’ve met with similar issues have said it really helped them. I get the pain is off the scale - can you get something with a bit more impact than paracetamol? It will get better but you sound like you need more help right now. Sending hugs.

Oh yes, I also had diazepam and a strong anti inflammatory too.

Thank you all so much just for replying I’m so desperate it’s made me cry just knowing others get it I’m in difficult situation with meds as have bowel and stomach problems so limits me husband has been into doctors asking them if a doctor could prescribe anything else re pain relief but they have told him no I will have to go down myself it’s impossible to get in car they really have been awful getting me out of car after X-ray took 2 people half hour and I actually threw up due to the pain which has never happened to me before and I have had some pretty horrible operation over the years plus pneumonia that nearly killed me was ventilated so I know I’m no whimp I really could do with a doctor having a few minutes to look at my meds to see if there is anything else I can take I will try and get through on phone ha ha can’t thank you enough for your reply’s sorry for long post I’m only 50 but feel like iv gained 30 years always been normal weight relatively fit so it’s tough when you can’t see an end in sight you have just made me feel that I’m not alone or the odd one in all this thank you

Well then you need to request a home visit! Honestly I work in NHS and not one of my colleagues would refuse you visit. Please try and get one. You could also call 111 for advice x

It sounds trivial compared to the pain, but heat pads made a huge difference to me being able bear to move - which I do think helped recovery. I think the ones I had were called Thermacare back heat pads, but most pharmacies sell a variant.

Thank you I have tried them already but all suggestions very welcome trying to get some different drugs from the doctors
